I'm wanting to look down the spark plug holes at some cylinder walls.
Thought about buying a borescope and looked on Amazon.
It looks like they make them that plug into your cell phone now. Smart idea -
You already have a high quality screen.
Some simply plug into the mini USB port on your phone.
Some use wifi.
I don't have wifi here. Everything I do is 4G
Don't know if that matters.
Do you have to buy an app separate on google play store?
Has anyone ever used one of these things?
Got any recommendations?
Thanks

I have early version, and also have cheap like separate standing from Harbor Freight.. Harbor Freight is MUCH better, camera is better, lights on end better, image is larger..

Did a job awhile ago where we had to locate the tubing in a radiant concrete floor. One plumber had a small thermal imager that plugged in his phone. Worked well.

I have one and it works fairly well. I have used it to inspect cylinders and get into tight places where mirrors and the human eye can't go.Don't expect to get supper close like a microscope. You do need the app and IIRC it is free. Never tried the HF, but if it is better give it a try. Read the reviews. For $35 bucks it's worth the try.

I ordered the one referenced in this video. It is very affordable $17.99 with free shipping. It is good enough to see the cross hatching of the cylinder honing inside the cylinders. Doubt I will ever need more clarity than that - LOL.

See it in use if you watch the video of a way to repair Ferd Terd spark plugs in the infamous 5.4l.

Or if you just want the scope link.

I remember looking at those bore scopes. I think that the wifi part of it is that the camera puts out its own wifi signal and your phone picks it up. Correct me if im wrong because i too want one.

I bought one for a motorola droid and couldn't get it to work. So you might want to do some research. Supposedly will work with Samsung. I bought a cheap horoscope on craigslist. Works ok.

I have a Bluetooth one for my iPhone, works great, very clear picture on phone, rescue a ballpoint pen cap that had been sliding around in my defrost vent on truck for years, paid for itself that day, I believe mine was $26 on amazon.

If you only need it once, I think it?s been worth it, I believe most android scopes can plug right into phone instead of needing to be Bluetooth

I bought a cheapie camera form HF years ago. Don't use it a lot, but is handy when you need it.

I have one for my iPhone. It works on wi-fi. It puts out a signal your phone can pick up in wi-fi- mode. Biggest problem I have with mine (cheap, less than $30)) is it doesn't have enough light for these 67 year old eyes. Other than that I like it.

I bought a bore scope for my Android phone. Plugs into the usb port and acts like a remote camera lens. It does use a certain app but the app is free. I used it like you intend on my SM. It showed pretty clear the cyl walls were in good shape just had to free up the rings from the wall. What took me some time was the orientation so I would know which side of the bore I was looking at

you are correct the camera is the WiFi source you will connect to.
If you are connected to another WiFi at the time you will be disconnected from that source so when you are fished with the camera you may have to tell your phone to connect to the original signal again.
