I see by my post down below you are awake--must be you didn't party too hard. I could not find any JI Case hot-rods but found this. A homemade Case 4 wheel drive using 2 LA rear ends and best of all [drum roll please] A DETROIT 6-71-WITH THE SCREAMING SONG THE ENGINE GODS MAKE. They need a bigger pipe on it and it should have a curve on it so you can point it forward so the parade crowd can hear you coming for 2 miles. I don't know much about LAs but if you run that Detroit at 2500 rpm is there a super slow gear so you only go 1/2 mph so the crowd can enjoy the sweet music of a Detroit longer. Ha Ha LOL Ho Ho-Just giving you a rough time for your post the other day. This tractor is supposed to be in a museum in Minn. HAPPY NEW YEAR Loren---Tee

Big Tee, At work I have the sweet music maker apart. The 3-53 has a bad head ache and I'm the only one who tolerates her music! It's in a Tampo roller and I told them I just pretend I'm on an Oliver Super 99 going for a full pull! Guy at the local tractor pull has a Super 99 that's won many pulls and you'd think he's wide open he would pull the throttle some more! That was the first screaming GMC I ever heard.

I saw a LA with a 3-71 in it by Clermont, Iowa a couple of yrs ago. Don't know if it was a kit or if a guy did them all.---Tee

First truck I drove was a 1970 GMC 9500 6-71 10spd Screaming detroit Stuffed rags in the holes in the cab for winter and pulled them out for the summer.

A guy that used to bring a bunch of Oliver tractors to our local show had one with a screaming Detroit. Got a lot of attention. Older members complained about noise, so he left the club and no longer attends. He and his son used to bring about 10 tractors, pull wagon for hay rides and help out anyway they could. Shame, guess that is why the show isn't doing well.

Dennis, We din't party much last night. The wifey lit a fire out in the enclosed patio and we snacked on finger food. Went to bead long before the ball dropped.
There are a couple of LA's around here with 4-53s in them There was a kit you could purchase to make the conversion. Kinzy comes to mind as the mfg. but I could be wrong.
The guy who built that tractor did a lot of fabricating to put that together with LA trannys. I have seen several LA through Case Racine 600s made into tandem tractors though. Case engineering caught on quick and in 1964 introduced the 4WD--4 wheel steer 1200.

I read in a tractor book somewhere that years ago Deere put a jimmy in an LA to see if a two wheel drive tractor can hold back 100 horses. Deere chose an LA because of the strong power train.

West of Sterling Colorado I saw a LA with a three cylinder jimmy. The owner told me an outfit in Denver did the job.

There is a guy in Saginaw that put a inline 6-71 on the front of an LA case I was there when he had the engine bolted on and the front axle under it. He started it up to let it scream for a neighbor for a minute then shut it down.

Just like a city bus when cranked up. FIL had a pair in a 43? Post. His last boat had Cats in it. Much nicer to listen too.

I have a 3-53 in the barn -- its waiting for a buyer -- came out of an air compressor --complete from fan to flywheel -- Roy

Yes John Deere did put a Detroit in a case la before
they built the model R or around that time to see like
you said if the big wheat farmers and others could
use a big tractor like a 100 horsepower
