How many YT members does it take to change a spark plug?

1 to change the spark plug and to post that spark plug has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing spark plugs and how the spark plug could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing spark plugs.

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing spark plugs.

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "spark plug" is an electrical device threaded into the cylinder of an internal-combustion engine to ignite the fuel mixture by producing timed sparks between electrodes.

6 to ask what is the correct gap setting.

2 to ask what is a 'feeler gauge'

2 to post that this group is not about spark plugs and to please take this discussion to a spark plug group.

27 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use spark plugs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group.

16 to debate which method of changing spark plugs is superior, where to buy the best spark plugs, what brand of spark plugs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty.

2 to post URL's where one can see examples of different spark plugs.

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the spark plug controversy.

4 to suggest that posters request the spark plugs FAQ.

16 to post huh?.

4 to ask what is a huh?

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

3 to say "do a Google search on spark plugs before posting questions about spark plugs".

14 to post photos of spark plugs they own.

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again...."

And some where in all that mess the ytdot will
chime in that in hauling the Spark plugs home in a
one ton truck the offending party was overloaded
should have had a cdl didn?t tie the spark plugs tied
down in the front seat properly and the tires on the
truck weren?t up the weight being hauled

or that the spark plugs were on the dash and unsecured there fore they could have caused mass damage in a accident not to mention taking eyes off the road to take a picture of said plugs on dash.

And about 14 folks who claim the reason for needing spark plugs in the first place is because of that awful ethanol.

One to five to point out that a feeler gauge is for setting valve lash and that a gapping tool is used for gapping plus.

This is what an open forum is all about. We may not agree with all answers and a lot of times we just might learn something. The reasons why I keep checking in. Happy New Year!!

(quoted from post at 07:53:48 01/01/19) Now that is real good! Wish I had done
it. Do you mind if I share it?

Actually, I found it on another forum, but I'm sure whoever wrote it had to be reading this one! :D

I think that person had gotten it somewhere else also. He gave me permission to post it here, so yes, Jon, feel free to use it wherever you like.

Glad you enjoyed it! Happy New Year!

Thank you for the laugh this morning. I have heard and seen variations of this dealing with other topics over the years, this one is precious.
Thank you again.
Wm.

Spark plug trivia: How many know that both AC and Champion spark plugs were named after the same man?

About 1908, when the automotive industry was in its infancy, a fellow named Albert Champion started manufacturing spark plugs and branded them "AC" for his initials. He subsequently sold the company to Buick. (Which is why to this day GM uses AC spark plugs).

Mr. Champion then started another spark plug manufacturing company and branded them "Champion" after his last name.

That is still less than if it had been discussed in congress, and they would need an environmental impact statement before starting the work

100 to determine wether it is an engine or a motor

Rich's Toy: That was a great (sum up) of Spark plugs, but after all that and the response you got I didn't see anyone post that they will replace or help replace in the proper prochure of how to put these in your engine that was possibly blown up but if you give me directions to your place I can assist you with your difficult task.

This was an excellent topic: That's why this is a fantastic site I have used for about 18 yrs. and have learned tricks of the trade that I could never have learned anywhere else from people who have (been there done that) experience. Keep up the good work everyone I check in daily here and love the pictures also.

And 6 to ask if this was originally a 6 volt positive ground machine that has been changed to 12 volt. And why did u change it, it worked perfectly the
first 50 years of its life.

(quoted from post at 10:20:37 01/01/19) would like to know what other forum you refer too. Need more material to kill time. e mail open

Sorry for the delayed response. I was gone all day.

The forum I got this from was Stovebolt.com, which is a Chevy truck site. It was in their off topic forum, which is called the "Greasy Spoon". It can only be accessed by becoming a member and logging into the site.
Unlike this forum, their "General Truck Talk" forum carries only truck related stuff. All off topic stuff is in the off topic forum.
