Nice video.

You kinda left out the fun part, watching it unload, but maybe you can?t film that I donno.

Was interesting that you need your pic taken. Over on the other forum a few days ago a trucker fella went about ballistic when a farmer said he takes pictures of trucks and drivers that come on his farm to pick up commodities to have a recorded. That trucker was about ready to shoot someone at the thought anyone would take his picture while trucking.

I stuck my GoPro on the tractor once, and took a video of me hauling some wagons to the elevator and back. Was kinda fun to watch, and see the things I could take time to look at, stuff I miss when I?m busy driving. Mostly along the road was interesting.

Interesting to watch. When I take stuff into the scrap yard it is different. Guy in the scale house just looks out the window at the load, no pictures. I go toss the load off, usually a kid out in the yard keeping a eye, just to make sure you are dumping trash. Then back to the scale to weight out. Get waved into the office, where the guy in the scale house reaches into his pocket and pulls out a roll of bills, and just peels off what you are due. No pictures, no identification, sign any name you like on the receipt, done. No locked doors or bulletproof glass window. I can understand why your yard does things as they do, we just aren?t there yet. Looks like you might be able to put another load together for another day

Yeah, they finally tightened up the rules down here.

Way to much stolen merchandise was going through as scrap with no record, no way to track the thieves. Idiot crack heads doing thousands in damage for a dollar return.

Sad part, when all that went into effect, no more picking the yard allowed. Very few yard will let anyone buy scrap, it all gets sorted and shredded.

Good friend of mine has a salvage yard near me,also buy scrap. There is a camera on the scales that takes a video of the driver, license plate, load on the truck etc. When you come into the office for
the check they photo copy your drivers license. He makes it very clear he does not want any stolen scrap and he'll cooperate with the police.

I wanted to watch them unload you!! Love to watch the big toys work!!

I took a small load of scrap to the yard one day. I weighed in.
The guy told me over the speaker to unload over there behind me.
So, in an effort to be efficient, I started to back off the scale to the unloader.
About that time the guy came running out of the office and said I had to pull through
the scale and go around. I said OK, not a problem, but how come?
They have some kind of detector for radioactive stuff and all loads must
pass by it. I asked who has stuff like that. He said the oil patch tries
to slip stuff by and sometimes the hospitals will accidently have some too.
Interesting thing learned that day.

Good. I am all for Law and order. If people are not breaking the law they have no reason to resist having their picture taken with a load of scrap. If it was a load of their stuff, taken by a thief and being sold, they would support the photos process. I am glad your friend is supporting the laws.

We had that discussion over Xmas Eve supper. One fellow said he got $100/ton
for unprepared. Prepared is supposed to be $130/ton.

I lurk over on agtalk. Numbers really gets those folks stirred up. He isn?t the usual farmer politically, but he is very good at research. His posts are well thought out and factual.

I don't have a scrap pile, I sell all of it. All that stuff out there is good stuff, just waiting for when it is needed, if and when.

If you are routinely building/fixing, you HAVE to have resources laying around.

Unbelievable what people throw away at the metal pile at the dump. They don’t even get paid for it!
