Merry Christmas from way down here in south Texas.

How many remember that night in 1968 Apollo 8 went around the moon and sent greetings back to us?
I had forgotten about it, but now I remember while I was still at home hearing the message over the radio as we were about to leave for Midnight Mass.

I would have been 13 at the time.

I don't have vivid memories of the early shots, but I do remember the missions leading up to the landing, the astronauts having everything they needed to land but having to crash the lander and come back, following orders...

Then Apollo 11, the landing...

And Apollo 13...

Some cool history playing out in our lifetime!

Though almost incomprehensible, there are still flat-earthers walking among us who are convinced that it never happened.

About 3 pm December 24,1964 we got married. Best thing I ever did but it only lasted 53 years. Not nearly long enough.

Apollo 8 was launched on December 21 ..... Momma and I were hitched on that day so our 50-year anniversary just passed and we're still hanging in. Funny thing is that I don't remember the Apollo event as being on my mind back then, I guess I was thinking about other things that I don't think about as often nowadays.

Yes I remember, I was 8 years old. Was in our livingroom with the Christmas tree, saw it on TV and remember mom talking about it.
