Need Advice / Looking for front loader for 1947 Massey H...

Hello everyone,

I am new to this page AND to to owning a tractor. My wife & I have a horse rescue / rehome farm in NY.
We recently purchased a 1947 Massey Harris 30 "tricycle" tire style tractor in phenomenal shape for very cheap. (We figured if it will not work for our farm, we could sell it as an investment)
We are in need of a "front end loader" and "Hydraulic Package" for this tractor and I am not sure how to match these up.

The tractor has a PTO but does not have a 3 point hitch.

If we can get a loader for this tractor and eventually a brush hog, it will make a great start up for us until we can upgrade.

I came across 2 front end loaders on Facebook Market PLace but I am unsure if these will fit and the people who own the loaders are also unsure.

I attached a pic of our Massey (Not sure why it uploaded sideways lol) and the Facebook Marketplace links for the loaders.

Here are the 2 links:

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Joe

As far as that tractor giving you a good return on investment, you will be disappointed. It is not rare, or in pristine original condition. The truth is that it is a 71 year old tractor with minimal tire tread and NO modern features that people and today"s equipment require.
You may find a loader that can be made to fit it with a lot of welding and fabrication, and all you can do to supply hyd power for the loader is to buy a PTO pump, reservoir and control valve plus hoses. Price wise you will be in way over value and still have a tractor without power steering and a 3pt hitch. It is just an old tractor that is not suited to handling today's equipment, including a bush hog, unless you can find a tow behind model, and then you will have to remove the PTO pump to run the bush hog.

Nice looking tractor, have seen several nice looking ones sell like yours that seem very reasonable too. Being a john deere guy myself I have several model 45 loaders with mechanical buckets and use them regularly around my property. Back in the day John Deere made brackets so that their loader could be used on the major competitor, Farmall letter series and 300 and 400. Am thinking the 45 loader could be used on your massey as well with some modifications. They are strong no frills loaders capable of lifting 1200 lbs.

Older loaders are hard to remove when you don't need it and harder to remount when you do need it, although a JD 45 is easier than most ~$250. Many older loaders stay on the tractor full time. A tractor with a loader can be more clumsy for mowing and field work i.e. broken fence posts, etc.

For the cost of a loader adding a hydraulic package, and modifying the loader to fit your tractor, I think you will be close to the cost of just buying another tractor with a hydraulic loader already installed ~$1500. Then you would have two handy tractors, one with a loader and one without.

Does the tractor have hydraulics? If so at least it's live as it already runs off the engine. Where are you located? I have an old MH trip loader I'd give you that came off a 44 that would fit, might need the cylinders repaired though.

We are in Hammondsport, NY Fingerlakes Region

No there is no hydraulics which I am in need of also

Sure am glad you told it like it is. I know this is an OLD TACTOR site and we are to praise them but, what that guy has is not worth adding a loader no way in the world.. Have three times what it is worth and still will not have anything that will do anything.

For a loader tractor you want live hydraulics ,power steering, and if possible mfwd . You have none of these on this Massey. Sell and reinvest or ad another tractor with a loader already on it. Cheaper and more efficient.
