I saw down on the combine forum you were looking for a diesel F2. I was looking at Bowling Green craigslist and saw one with both heads and a parts machine. Says the guy is quitting due to ill health. Hope it is something you can use.

Lee I may have to just drive up there , I have talked to that guy twice but he hum haws about what he wants and what he wants to sell. Thinking I will just drive up there after Christmas./ I need another combine like I need a hole in the head but we want one for some of these small fields that are so hard to get into.

I sort of doubt it Randy. My old $600 K is still plugging along. If only I could get enough dry weather to finish picking. JM I hope the guy doesn't do like a guy did me once. I don't remember the name of the little spot in KY he lived in but it was a good 2.5 hour drive from here. He had quit farming and had a full line of equipment he said he would made a good price on if we would drive up there.(Wouldn't price it over the phone) Well we made the trip and he had several pieces of fairly decent equipment. Every piece that I was interested in I would say how much? He would say I don't know what would you give ? I would make an offer and he would say Oh I cant take that. Then I would say then how much would you take ? Every time the reply was I don't know. After trying to price about 4 pieces of equipment like that with the same result I got back in the truck mad enough to bite a grade 8 bolt in two. I don't think I will ever drive over 20 miles again if they wont give me a price first. lol

I'd been wanting a K,but right now,I'm thinking an F might be a better idea. Kim's starting to push me to travel more. I don't know if it's because of my younger brother's cancer and she's getting scared or what. I've been thinking that by the time we can get our social security,I should probably have about half as many cows and be pasturing their calves the next year to finish them on pasture and grain instead of having to chop and feed so much silage.

If I do that, some of the acres that are growing corn and hay now could be rotated to beans and wheat, and if I did that,a little bit bigger combine might be a better idea.

There was an F gas with a 13 foot head and a four row narrow for sale here close to home, fairly cheap. It might still be and the CL ad just expired,I don't know. They kept moving it all over the county all summer advertising for a millage for 4H. They said the proceeds from selling it were going to 4H. If it pops up again and I have a little money burning a hole in my pocket,it might end up in my barn yet.

60 something I replaced a EIII with a K soybean special, but gas chev motor. Never again. Thing is this combine might not be used ever year, we do food plots for lots of these city slickers. Had a Massey 300 gas and ever time I went to use it took longer to get it running than what we cut. If I buy a small combine want diesel and having had the K I think I know enough about a F that a F 2 diesel is what I am looking for. Boys say just forget about these little fields and may be the answer.

You could drive up there and buy that F and get it loaded, then decide you don't want it and bring it right on up to me. LOL

Randy I think the F would be the ticket for you . I have been considering one myself. I like my old K but there are so many advantages to an F2 just one being getting the job done sooner. With all this rain I would love more capacity even though I don't do a lot.

Randy I wouldn't be afraid of a gas motor. I haven't had a minutes trouble out of mine and a buddy of mine in white county used a K2 for years over thousands of acres with no trouble. They will use more fuel but on relatively small acreage that isn't too bad.

Ya,the Fs that I knew of had a 292 Chevy. That was a pretty good motor. I spent a fair amount of time in an F gas Hydro and a G.
