Has anybody transported a new holland 1495 and know how to set the tires up for transporting. Supposedly there is a way move them in for transport. Just curious if anyone has done it?
 
I know of no way to move the wheels on one of those,or any swather for that matter.Need to add 'wings' on to an existing deckover trailer,or use a genuine 'swather trailer'.
 
The only thing you can move is the rear caster wheels to fit on the trailer then set the drive axle on blocks. Will still be an oversize load needing permits in most states. It could be hauled on a lowboy trailer like for combines without any changes. The head will have to come off either way.
 
There is no way to make it narrow enough to drive on a 102" trailer. They either came disassembled or on trailers with out riggers.

The common way to move them short distances is a swather cart. You drive the drive wheels up on the cart leaving the caster wheels on the ground. Lots of home made ones and Donahue made a factory one like in the picture.

Then for longer distances or just faster travel speeds you have full swather trailers. Again many home made ones with Donahue making a good factory one too. Also the trailers that are used with self propelled sprayers will often work to haul a swather too.

My old 1495 had extra spacers and 4 bolts per side and you could put the drive tires on the inside of the drop boxes and easily load it on an 8' wide trailer.
 
Do you know how thick the spacers are? I am driving 300 miles to pick this up and dont know if it has the spacers or bolts. Just want to go prepaired.
 
chevytaHOE5674: To do that did you not have to have the entire header and crimper removed??? Even then IRC you have to remove a cover and flip it over???
 
You could flip the tires in with the head/ crimper still attached if you removed the windrow forming shields but hauling it 300 miles would be tricky since the head is 13 foot wide.

The spacers were probably 2.5~3" inches thick then you used the longer bolts in every other lug hole to attach the wheels on the inside. Been a long time but I do know the bolts were fine thread the same as the normal lug bolts, but no tapered head so the wheels didn't center real well.
