Dear God, help me

Not to insult those who have real jobs (farmers) fri is not coming fast enough! Then it's eleven days off, then I will be able to work for myself and enjoy the time working!

Everyone who works for a living or stays at home and contributes other ways has a real job farming or not. I?m soon going to be for the most part done farming and enter the real world myself. What do you work at?

Boss man asked if I wanted to work Saturday, getting caught up in the shop and I'm like -Nope, my vacation starts when I knock off Friday. Go back New Year's Eve day and work New Year's Day too, gotta feed the piggies!!.

Same here. Hope to spend a couple days up at the farm and/or working on tractors.

No such thing as a holiday where I work. They did away with holiday pay and it's mandatory to work the day before, the day of, and the day after. I lucked out this year and so far don't have to work Christmas day. I do have to work Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, which are my normal days to work at least 12 hour shifts. Won't know how long of a shift till I get to work. I have to work mandatory overtime on the 26th and 27th. Have to be there at 3 am and possibly pull 16 hour shift both days. Several businesses around me have gone the same route.

Me too, except we get off Thursday at noon, company buys us BBQ lunch at Springcreek!

Then don't come back until the 2nd!

Day after Christmas it's back to the indoor house remodel. I can sorta see the end, but then again it's like painting the Golden Gate bridge, just means it's time to start over at the beginning...

After working 22 years at last factory job, often six days or nights in a row, 12 hr shifts, lots of holidays, and almost every sunday, vacations were much anticipated. What did irk me was getting off at 7 am and coming by the local stores about 7:30 and seeing all the local farmers still gathered up drinking coffee, and just generally shooting the bull, and many of them would tell me how I had it made, having an easy factory job in town.

I haven't had a real job since 1978,,I don't think I could deal with it now,,I still work 50+ hours a week but at my own pace.

Kansas ..... holy smokes, you must be cashing in with a lot of overtime. I hope they're not denying that to you. Holiday pay is mandatory up here, I think it is 4% minimum of your annual income (about two weeks per year).

I?ve had several jobs like that. Holidays were paid, as long as you showed up to work!

I don?t work at those places anymore...

Kansas, are you on a rotating shift? Some places use them to maintain 24 hour - 7 days a week production.

There are a lot of different rotating shifts, what ever can be imagined and agreed upon. One place runs four shifts of twelve hours each, two shift are day shifts 6AM to 6PM, two are night shift 6 PM to 6AM. Work days are four days on then 3 days off during one week followed by three days on then four days off the next week. Other places use two days on then three days off followed by three days on and two days off so people get every other weekend off. Local churches seem to complain about rotating shifts more than the people working them.

Boss tells me today I can work all the OT I want next 3 weeks ,weekends too.i said nope not weekends,it?s huntin season!bust my a$$ the rest of the year and he knows it

The place I work runs 2 12 hour shifts on Sat, Sun, and Mon. That way it runs constantly those days. They run 2 10 hour shifts on Tue, Wed, Thurs, and Fri. The hours vary depending on what area you work. I like the hours because it gives me a full paycheck and more time to work on the farm.

We get the days from Christmas eve to new years day off...paid. I am going to work a few days of it, its triple time pay, hard to turn down. The down side is I am close to the limit where the government says I have to drop the amount I can put in my 401k.

1300 Hours overtime so far this year 1200 last two years in a row it does take a tool on your body and mind. But people need heat in there homes
