I have a friend who's IH 1086 was stolen this past weekend from a grain bin site at the intersection of 2 rural roads. It has a Leffelman's Sticker on it and has tilt wheel steering kinda unique I am told. Just about a year ago another guy lost a newer Case IH loader tractor again at a bin site and that tractor has not been located yet.

More likely on the back of a semi with 4 or 5 other large pieces of equipment crossing the border into Mexico.

Years back my uncle had THREE stolen and never found any of them , The last one was the 4520 John Deere , it was stolen the night of the local tractor pull , back then most guys just drove there tractors to the pull and either hauled there weights on a wagon pulled behind or the wife/ girl friend or buddy drove the pick up . So no one was going to know if at 2 or 3 in the morning if that tractor that went by was stolen or not and even if the local law saw one go by they would not stop and ask questions . Several years back this month on the coldest night of the year Theifs opened up the barn doors at my one friends place and fired up the skid steer and drove it oput of the barn and out across the fields to the township road behind his place loaded it on the road and were gone . That skid steer was his only means of feeding his live stock . Forced him to rent one at 200 bucks a day while his insurance company kept playing games and not paying up . Three weeks went by when a friend of his was at a little restaurant having breakfast and over heard a guy bragging about the LX 665 he had just bought for 4500 bucks that came with a large bucket and two new ft tires , This friend said hey ya know what that sounds like the LX 665 that was stolen three weeks ago . That guy left soon after and went home and called the sheriff they sent out Deputy Dwag to check S/N and yep it was Eugenes . Then the real fight began Insurance company did not want to let eugene take it back but had never paid him for it Sheriff wanted Eugene to pay for the hauling and one day storage charge . Now in between time i had found my friend another LX 665 that he bought and sent the 200 dollar a day rental back . The insurance company told him well you bought a new one so you don't need the old one back , Eugene informed them that well you never paid for it so the old one is still mine He had to get the lawyer involved to get it back and the insurance company ended up having to pay for the rental storage and trucking .

That is when you take you AR-15 and trailer and load up your property and go home.

I have seen this happen before. Take the duals off or add a pair, add or subtract the weights on the front, then change the style of the exhaust pipe. That tractor could be a dozen miles up the road and no one would suspect a thing. A guy would have to be right up close to it to see any personal changes over a stock tractor. Story was a guy up on the county line bought a hot Allis tractor years ago. You never saw this thing parked in the yard. Either it was out in a field or in a tool shed. If you did see it, it was at a distance from a gravel road. Story might not be true , but sure looked fishy. This does make you realize how easy a tractor can be blended into farmers herd and never stick out. How many 1086s are out there? Nothing special to see one show up in a guys yard. Al

neighbor had a near new JD skid loader stolen and sheriff said almost all of those end up in mexico with no serial numbers on them when they get there. I just had all the wiring stolen off a center pivot irrigator. sheriff says he has very good idea who did it but can't prove it

Friend of mine was building a parking lot for a new Catholic church. His tractor and some equipment was stolen, video clearly shows who stole then. Sheriff knows them, wouldn't arrest them because they couldn't find the equipment. Catholic church took up a collection to buy him more equipment.

I handled all kinds of insurance claims including farm equipment for 47 years. I am always hearing how crooked the insurance company is but I bet whoever starts the story never gives all the information. The insurance policy is a contract and no insurance co could survive if we just did every time what the insured wanted. As far as the lawyer is concerned we settled a lot of claims or parts thereof we didn't legally owe rather than spend 3 times as much hiring our lawyers than what the item cost which was our prerogative, again under the contract. I worked for many companies over the years as an independent and none of them ever said pay less than the contract called for.

tall kid told me last night he had to mark all electric poles for a distance of 6 plus miles someone had stole all of the copper ground rods
