recently i bought a ford 501 mower, specific model is 14- 92, im understanding there were different models of the 501, mine has a broken left side stabilizer arm, the one the rod attaches to, thats all thats keeping it from running, mower is free, cutters are nice ect, does anybody have a good used one? im finding this is a hard part to find, ive found a right, which i dont need mine is ok, mower is going to mount to a ford jubilee

I have parts and piece of either a 501 or 515 ford sickle bar mower laying around but with out seeing what you need it is hard to know if I have that part

old, here is the stabilizer, the part i have laying on top of the blue wire is supposed to be attached to the green rod below it, and it all clamps to the 3 point lower lift arm, i have that piece, but this looks like a cast part, im afraid if i tried to weld it it wouldnt hold

Charles, im located in central nm, out in the middle of nowhere now, seems to be very few yt'ers out west here i think there's one 70 miles away in Roswell, but i haven't met him

I live NW of you near Cortez CO. I could trace mine and send the tracing to you. I would think with some strap steel you could fabricate the missing part and weld/braze/bolt it on. If I remember, it is flat ( you're not missing much) and it clamps on to 3 pt arm.

(quoted from post at 13:01:22 12/17/18) I'll have to go out and look and see if I can find that part. Been a while since I looked at the mower parts I have

Old, I thought your dialup was so slow you couldn't do pictures?

Our 501 was bought new and never had that part and it works fine.

With that outside stabilizer bar ( red one in the picture) why is it needed.

I agree with IaGary. If you have stabilizer bars (the red bar he refers to) on both sides, they provide lateral restraint.

gary if i use the red sway bars, what does that green rod do? do i need to bolt it to the lift arm? that rod goes down and attaches to a belcrank which goes to the big spring which attaches via chain to the cutter bar, im not sure of its function

yes exactly, and i can take it even farther, back in the 1970's i took a job on the old base which had been converted to a industrial area, i got hired at a hanger which repaired broken oilfield equipment to get money to go to trade school, i never gave it a thought back then, but always had a uneasy feeling in the hanger, i found out 20 years later that exact hanger was hanger 18! the exact place all that crash debris was taken to

That part is needed to lift cutter bar. There is 2 styles early flat that is shown. Has clamp that goes on lift arm on tractor. Late has ball on end. They do not enterchange. That one has end broken off.
