AW come-on Dennis!!! I think that the trucks were being slowed down by that green thing in front of them. He should have pulled into a field and got out of the way. HeHe

ACG one way to look at it is case never made or will make anything that could pull it!!! yikes!!! your friend JOCCO!!!

A couple of summers ago a heavy haul Co. out of Texas was hauling turbines from the GE plant to our east in Schenectady NY., to PA. The rigs were very similar to that one with multiple pull and push trucks. US Rt 20 here in my neck of the woods, central NY has much steeper hills than that. I have forgotten the gross tonnage of the entire rig, but they also had bucket trucks to handle wires and stop lights, and full state police escorts. The rig took up the full width of the roads 2 way, driving lanes. At the speed they were moving the only thing that would have stopped them on hills was traction, but they had a couple extra heavily weighted pull/push trucks in case more traction was needed.

The Red thing is part of the transport rig. It connects all the wheel carriages together. The payload is nestled down inside of the red frame work to keep overall height down as low as possible.

I would like to see some numbers on what a rig like that costs, the insurance, the man power, permits, escorts, the return of profit, the final cost for the haul...

Those would be some mind bending figures!

ive seen this in a video, that Deere is under power, pulling the rigs, not sure why the hills not that steep, and those trucks are usually specd with 600 + hp each, with 18 speed trans, unless one of them is dead, i wonder what there going to do when they get the trailer loaded?

That isn't even the biggest load on a Trail King Trailer. Had one similar to that to haul Autoclaves for the mining industries. It had dollies under the load as well. That one was pulled and pushed with 11 Semi-Tractors if I recall right. Used to work there as a draftsman. Never got to do drawings for those really big ones.

ACG ...... so there is a load of something down deep in the red trailer? What might be in there? Was it in the load then do you think? I wonder what it was?

Tenant who is all Deere all the time, got his skid steer stuck, pulled down with the 930 said "hook up to what ever part you want pulled out" We had a good laugh, I "promised" never to tell anyone. HA!

Had an all green neighbor who said John Deere horsepower was at least 1 1/2 stronger than other horsepower.

Just curious, you kin to Clessie? I have 2 Bransons with Cummins internationally licensed engines, and one time had a 400 hp Big Cam in a 1979 International cabover.

. For those who think that is a small hill . It requires 1 horsepower output to raise 550lbs , 1 foot in height per second .
How many tons total with load, trailers and trucks combined . Add to that rolling friction .

They arn't going that fast. The ones hauling turbines past here from GE only travel 20-30 miles per day. The trucks will spin before running out of power.

Those LITTLE inclines can plum suck the horse power out of ya and with all that rolling resistance they are lacking about four hundred ponys or more . Now personally never pulled one of them big trailers but one of my friends that i taught how to drive big trucks does and has told me that there have been times he had three on the ft pulling and three on the back pushing , his truck is set up with two speed rear ends a 18 speed and a three speed behind the 18 and yep 600 plus twisting it all . Biggest i have personally moved was just shy of 3000000. with out help with over 750 ponys under the hood . you did not want to miss any shifts and you sure as all get out want to be smooth on the shift. On the hills the drag would make you have to skip shift , and once you were down in 2nd. you started to worry as your next gear would be LOW as there was no way you could hit 1st. Then there was the traction factor will you have enough weight on the drives or will you spin out even on dry pavement and IF you are loaded to max permit weight this may not be enough . we use to pull loads of coal out of the W B coal and bring loads up that hill in the 125000-130000 lb range and drive axle loading in the 50000 lb range and spin out in second if you got out of the wheel tracks and hit gravel or the hill was a little wet . That was scary as you could not hold the load on the hill . Fast thinking and good backing skills and a jake brake might save you .

In a parallel modern day universe there is New AgTalk, here is a link to a post over there about this or at least a similar load moving in Canada. If you go to the link and look for the post by WTW he posted a link to a story that gives dimensions of 30' wide, 300' long and he states it to weigh 1.8 million pounds. The news paper article goes on to give the roads for locals to avoid along the route of the load. A lot of interesting stuff in this AgTalk post.
