Degrees Kelvin

Countries that converted to metric units, use Celsius.
Light bulbs are using Kelvin to rate color lights.
If you want to convert Kelvin to celsius just subtract 273.15.

I like 5000K LED shop lights, bright white.

absolute zero is taken as −273.15? on the Celsius scale (International System of Units),[1][2] which equals −459.67? on the Fahrenheit scale (United States customary units or Imperial units).[3] The corresponding Kelvin and Rankine temperature scales set their zero points at absolute zero by definition.

Good chance many may not of heard of Kelvin or Rankine temperatures.

So here is an example of how metric units are creeping into the US vocabulary.
Color temperature.

The amount of info on line is staggering, like the info in your link. That might be tough for a lot of us YT'ers to get through and understand, but it still is amazing. I guess right now up here we are experiencing a temperature outside of approximately 273.15 degrees Kelvin, or just the right temperature to freeze or melt water.

I like 5000K lights in work areas and the kitchen, but I find 2700K is more relaxing in living areas and bedrooms.

I was exposed to Kelvin and Rankine temperature and the metric system when in
High School back in the 60's.

Don't see what the big deal is about the metric system. It really easier, no
fractions to deal with.

We were shut down, not too long after the Sam Donaldson 60 Minutes program on the subject before we finished it, but the focusing magnets for the Superconducting Super Collider's 2 ionic beams, in the 54 mile (circumference) main loop were (to be) cryogenically cooled to +4*K.

Design of the collider called for a cryo pump every 5 miles of the loop. A very thin, sophisticated, insulation sheet was developed for the purpose. I don't remember how many layers, nor the exact makeup, were wrapped around the two tubes and surrounding focusing magnets. I was part of the design team for the Drift Tube and Couple Cavity Linear Accelerators which energized the beam before being injected into the 2 accelerating loops and then the main beam. Quite an undertaking I assure you.

Metric vs Standard measurements.

There are no degrees in the Kelvin scale. 100 K is just 100 K

There can be fractions in metric... all decimals are really fractions in disguise.

I was looking at my tool box and found a 0.5" wrench with .5625" on the other end. 1/2" x 9/16"

Why does a 14mm socket fit so well on a 3/8 drive ratchet?
