Does anybody know as to what specifically they call tool wise that can redo the ring grooves and fit in a new sleeve
Sorry I didn?t post this on my previous post. Had issue with server.

showcrop I THINK he is talking about something to cut the grove in the block where the sleeve lower o rings go. I have had it done at a machine sop but never in the tractor.

jm. that is what I thought the he was asking about at first but then I decided that he is wanting to clean the piston ring grooves so that he pistons with new rings will go into the new sleeves.

Well after going back and reading it again it appears you are right. I know the other day he was worried about the grove in the lower part of the block.

I use a 6" wire wheel with a 5/8" nut in it,,a 5/8" all threat 10" long and a all thread nut (a long 5/8" nut) and join it all together on my big side grinder,,force it down the bore and let it shine it all up nice,,this works great,,I'm just finishing up a 68 4020 O/H now,,In all the Deere engines that I have O/H'ed I have never had an issue with the o-ring bores,,all thou I have heard of it

My instructor at the ag tech program made us use fine emery cloth and spend several hours on each cylinder cleaning the grooves .
