Radiator shops anymore?

Does anyone know of a radiator shop near Kansas City anymore? The 4020 needs to top tank resealed to the core. It?s a perfectly good radiator, the core isn?t all plugged and it has been replaced although I can?t recall if it was 15 or 25 years ago. I hate getting old.

I thought about calling salvage yards but I think I would only end up in the same place in another year or so. There?s got to be a better option than an $800 aftermarket one made in the land of Almost Right. I have a call in to an aquaintance that rebuilds old tractors to see if he knows of anyone, but he hires out his rebuilds so that might get done without him knowing details.

Well, not exactly in the Kansas City area, but Tom's Radiator out of Sabetha, KS is where everybody in my area takes their radiators and he's over an hour away.

Missouri or Kansas I guess

I simply put the words
Kansas City radiator repair
in my computer at a thing called google and it shows a map
it gives me three shops located on the map
it gives me hours of operation
their telephone number
and turn by turn directions if I choose

Three local shops have shut down I had to take a rad 2 hours to get it repaired. They were quick and did a good job. The truck is back to work.

I emphasize with you.

Good radiator shops are hard to find and no one is opening up any new ones in small markets. Government regulations have killed most of the small ones, once ubiquitous in just about any town of any size.

You will find radiator shops in larger metropolitan areas due to the demand of heavy truck and industrial equipment owners.

Rural customers may need to drive or ship.

We had an excellent one here for years, but, aftermarket prices and fewer 'shade tree' mechanics put him out of biz. Same thing happened to the electrical rebuilder (starters gens. etc.), a shame really.

"Government regulations have killed most of the small ones, once ubiquitous in just about any town of any size." Yepper for years past I used one in a nearby town, only one in the area. 12-15 years ago I needed a good flush job on a JD 4230 radiator and his answer as to what he could do for me was no more than what I could do for myself. Sad, sad!

Have you tried Midwest Radiator in midtown Kansas City? They repaired a Ferguson radiator for me several years ago, and I think they're still around.

. There is less demand for rad work today vs the bad old days .
Today’s coolant is clean and PH balanced glycol/distilled water mix .plus the rads are sealed airtight to keep out oxygen with a pressure cap and an overflow tank.
In the past coolant was drained in winter and any old ditch water was considered good enough. Plus in the summer time without glycol and a pressure cap. Ditch water or high mineral tap water was regularly added to the cooling system .
