Folks, there are many movies with much bigger budgets that have "earned" so-called Oscars, some truly deserving.

Nevertheless, this remains my most favorite movie because, I've BTDT.

What is your favorite movie?

Dean
American Graffitti

Great movie, Larry.

I like everything that Mel Brooks did.

My favorite is History of the World.

Yep, the p**s boy, and the king jumping all of the ladies.

It's good to be the king.

American Graffitti

Some of my favorites include Quigley Down Under, Man from Snowy River, Grapes of Wrath, and Grease.

Howard

Casablanca!

What a classic.

I've seen it many times but always watch it again when it's shown by TCM.

Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman were both fabulous.

FWIW, Ingrid Bergman is one of the few women that I consider to be absolutely beautiful, not just attractive, but beautiful.

Yes.

Suzanne Sommers (SP?) had a cameo in the T Bird. She never said a word but it launched her career.

American Graffitti launched many careers, including that of Harrison Ford, an unknown at the time. He was the guy wearing the cowboy hat driving the bad a** 55 Chevy from out of town looking for Miler. His stage name was Bob Falfa.

Read the credits sometime. Lots of careers were launched in American Graffitti.

What a wonderful movie.

Technically not a movie, but “Lonesome Dove” is my favorite, hands down, followed by “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”.

How about Bridge On The River Kwai, UD?

This was my Mother's favorite movie (along with South Pacific). She was a WWII veteran in the South Pacific (Army nurse), and could relate somewhat.

FWIW, Alec Guinness played the disciplinarian British colonel who had surrendered his men at Singapore. He later played in other David Lean movies including Doctor Zhivago. Later still, he played Obi Won Kenobi in the Star Wars movies.

Lots to choose from. I really like The Warriors but Skyfall wins out. Also like any of The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, just to many.

Cannot narrow the list to just one...

The Passion of the Christ

The Hiding Place - about Corrie ten Boom and family during WWII

The Bridges of Madison County - though the book was better

Where the Red Fern Grows

A Star is Born - the old version with Kris Kristofferson

Forrest Gump

Just about any John Wayne Western

Pink Panther movies (hilariously silly)

Dirty Harry movies

Family Vacation and Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase

Grumpy Old Men

On Golden Pond

Smokey and the Bandit

OK... I'll stop now... LOL

Love the Pink Panther movies with Peter Sellers.

Complete agreement regarding The Bridges of Madison County. The movie was wonderful, but the book was riveting.

The snowy river movies were based on the
poetry of A.B. "Banjo" Paterson. He was
working as a law clerk and wrote a letter
to one Clancy about a debt. It was returned
with the note "Clancy's gone droving and we
don't know where he are", which inspired
his first work, Clancy of the Overflow.
The man from snowy river

a made for tv movie the cowboy and the movie star
clint eastwood john wayne
I think either 6 days and 7 nights or 8 days and 7 nights Harrison ford and anne heche

Might seem a little strange because I like all the action, adventure and sci fi movies, but two of my favorites are Kelly's Heros, a WWII movie with Clint Eastwood and Telly Savalis, and Stalag 17 with William Holden, of which the series Hogans Heros was a spin off.

Flight of the Phoenix the original. The remake was good too. Fixing things with what you have to work with is the story of my life.
American graffiti is definitely in my top five. I like the fact they used the same 55 Chevy from Two Lane Blacktop.
We did some street racing but did more at our local drag strip.
Ron

The Ref, the big Lebowski and Christine, open range and cold mountain also. Cold creek manor I think it was,? Is good too, to many to list.

American Graffiti, Second Hand Lions, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, about any Bogart movie.

Caddy Shack, Animal house,Super Troopers,Tombstone,Harlem Nights where do I stop? That's a good start.

"Das Boot" and "The Last of the Mohicans" It was two hours long but it seemed like 20 minutes because the action was so fast.

Greatest Movie of all time

The Grapes of Wrath Based on the Steinbeck novel starring Henry Fonda and Jane Darwell

John T

Gone in 60 Seconds, the original not so much on the remake. Honorable mentions include Alcatraz, The happiest Millionaire, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Stalag 17. Those are a few that come to mind.

The Blues Brothers. My daughter hates the movie and still knows every line. " We're on a mission from God ".

Yeah. And after filming with Harrison Ford, Anne came out an declared she was no longer attracted to women and that lifestyle was just a choice and not genetics.
That peeved a few people.

My top three: "Cool Hand Luke", "The Blue Max", & on a lighter scale - "The Princess Bride".
Other top rated (for me): "The African Queen", Steve McQueen's "Tom Horn", "Crocodile Dundee" & "Jeremiah Johnson".

"Sands of Iwo Jima"

I spent 1.5 years on Okinawa and never got to visit Iwo Jima. Closed to people.

How do you choose just one!?

I'd probably have to say "Shawshank"

For all you "American Graffiti" fans, you should check out "Hollywood Knights".
