John Deere 4440

Depending upon if they've been field-converted and/or the age/serial number they could take either John Deere-style coupler tips or Pioneer/ISO-style.

The original factory selective control valve (SCV) would have used John Deere's own style of tips. Then later on there came a kit to convert them over to the ISO/Pioneer tip. Looking at the coupler you can tell by how far the barrels stick out of the couplers and also the appearance of the handle under the barrel.

This is the factory SCV coupler. Look how the barrels do not stick out past the valve body. They also have a noticeable taper to them. Also look at the handles under the valve. They have a round steel handle. This style takes the JD style tip.

This is what the JD style male coupler tip looks like. notice the taper on the first section of the tip.

This SCV has the ISO conversion kit installed in it. Notice how the barrels stick out past the valve body. They also have a rubber cap that will fit over the entire barrel. The older style has a rubber plug that fits inside the barrel not over it. Also notice how the handles are more square looking. They also are made out of Aluminum. This enables the SCV to use the IS)/Pioneer style of male coupler tip.

This is an ISO/Pioneer style male coupler tip. Notice how the first section of the tip is straight without the sharp taper the JD style has. This became the Industry standard in the late 1980s. On JD tractors this became the standard with the 50 series tractors. IE JD 4455 etc.

(quoted from post at 13:45:19 12/01/18) what are the dimensions for a quick coupler on a John Deere 4440 hydraulic system?

I doubt if you will easily find the exact dimensions posted, if I remember I'll take a couple of measurements of one when I get to the shop and post them.

You might be able to get the specs from the parts department at the local jd dealer. Also specs might be on some parts sights.
