Don't want to blow Son's horn but he and his Wisc. buddies are down to that big classic-antique tractor pull in Tunica Miss. this week. They put this 88 together the last month and took it south for it debut. They have this big class called the St. Jude benefit. When you sign up even numbers pull one track and odd numbers pull other track then the winner on each track pulls on the other track and they add the distances to determine the winner. Son won his side but the other guy beat him in the pull off. He got second so is happy with the 88. He had the hood and side curtains laying outside his shop and his wife drove over his hood with suv so that's why the name is there. He had to put another hood on it---Tee

Went back out to the shop an was thinking--If it is the same Jack Simon I have no fond memories of him. I believe it was back in the late 70's we went to a pull at Impendence, Iowa-they had a farmer pull in conjunction with a Iowa pull. we were parked in the pits and we went and got something to eat-when we came back Jack and some of his Iowa puller friends were standing around my pick-up drinking our beer out of our cooler. Jack thought it was funny-we didn't. I would say it was Jacks lucky day. It was hot and the guys I was with don't cater to beer thieves! I thought he pulled a Cockshut 570.---Tee

Stealing beer is a hanging offence in these parts! Before we had Sunday beer sales it was a common thing to stop see who some in the shop fridge.

I wasn't acquainted with the man but I saw him pull a black 88 at NTPA's Western Nationals in Bethany, MO. a time or two back in the era you mention. It was a good tractor and it was from Iowa. gm

Nobody reads my posts anyway but Son informed me I was wrong--It was the 4250 king of the hill class--sorry---Tee
