An Amtrack train and a tractor collided at a rural field crossing near Wyanet, Ill this morning. Not many details yet, but pretty sure tractor driver was killed. Sorry, I don't know how to post a link, you'll have to google it. Please pray for the drivers family. Chris

I use to have to use feild entrances on a very busy line. The tracks were elevated pretty good, so the drive ways up and over were very steep. You had to be very careful. Couldn't hardly see down the tracks untill you were practically on them. Passenger trains are also alot more quiter than a rumbly freight train. My heart goes out to the ones involved. Due to a job change I don't have to do that anymore, and I don't miss having to go over those feild entrances to get to the back feilds on other side of tracks like I use to do.

Neighbor had one field that only access was across unmarked tracks, up steep hill both ways with trees on both sides. We planted it because his planter was too big to go across the crossing, put it in CRP, no need to go now.

I have taken an Amtrak ride on that line a few times, the trains go daily between Quincy and Chicago, IL. Goes within a block of where I work and right past my Brother and Sister In Laws house. Those trains are moving very fast out in the open country.

Trains and motorcycles.
Trains run a dedicated path that only has a zone of danger that is under 11 feet wide.
They can't stop or swerve to miss you like a motorcycle.

People seem to pull out in front of them often but only one vehicle wins, always.
