That Big Tree

Somebody commented on the size of the wood blocks in the picture I posted last night with the 15-30 tractor. This is a picture of the tree that produced those blocks. Or at least some of it. Seems to me he had a chain saw with about a 40 inch bar on it.

In 1976 the Baptist Church in our town had to remove an oak tree. It measured 44" across the stump.A local logger took it down and he used a saw with about a 30" bar and made 4 cuts around the base of the tree.
 
(quoted from post at 05:42:18 11/21/18) In that pic, the bar on that chainsaw looks to be in the 20" to 24" size range.
Yes, in that photo I posted Angus is holding one of the little saws for branching. The one he used to do the main trunk was likely double the length. I should see if I have a photo of that one.
