Sask. Auction sale

I think this farm auction was in year 2000. It was a neighbour's that I had helped out for years and was now helping some with the sale using the Massey and front end loader to lift and move things, load, pull stuck trucks, etc. . Spring time so lots of mud. Started out dull and showery but sunny by early afternoon when I took this one.
Wish I had kept track of how many farm auctions I have been to in the past 47 years.

Used to go to a lot of farm auctions, now lots of them hold no interest for me as machinery is too new for my check book... I still manage to make it to 2 or 3 every year and usually one of those is a consignment auction, they're kind of neat as they have all sorts there.

I'm in the same boat with a lot of farm auctions now too. A lot of the machinery is too big, too expensive, etc. But I still find the odd one to go to that has something I might buy most years. Plus my back does not do well with standing around for hours at a sale. I've been attending some "onine" from the comfort of my kitchen table via laptop lately.

Internet bidding makes it hard to get a deal at an auction. You stand around for hours and someone buys it Over the net or phone. People at the sale can see problems with equipment that internet bidders can?t.

Still plenty of auction sales within 100 miles, not too many within 20 miles though. Vast majority are clearing farm auctions, and equipment will be a mix of old and newer stuff, rarely large equipment. Always seems to be good crowds, with folks to buy everything. Many times close to home sales turn into a big reunion, with half the crowd catching up with each other?s coming and goings than are watching the sale.

I like online auctions. You can go whenever and check something out and don't have to waste a day to bid. Thank God for internet!
