Is horse wrap a tool?

A few months ago I sprained my ankle getting off Farmall. I can walk on it now with no pain. Doesn't hurt at night. I wrap my ankle every morning with horse wrap to keep it stabilized.

I found a place on eBay to get 10 rolls 4 inch x 15 ft for less than $13. I like how horse wrap makes my ankle feel, I ordered 20 rolls.

How many use horse wrap?

That seems spendy. Checked on Amazon. Don't know if this is the same stuff, but......:

Yep, use it at work on my bum knee during leaf blowing season. Six or seven of us move around three hundred cubic yards of shredded up leaves every fall. The wrap makes a world of difference in how my knee holds up.

My dad is a vet, and I have seen him use it for lots of things, including securing a trailer hitch pin. That was back in the days before YTDOT.

I have horses and have several rolls of the wrap on hand all the time! Never used it on myself, I have no idea why. Thanks, I most likely will now if the need arises.

I keep some in the first aid kit. Much handier than ace bandage especially if you are putting it on one handed. Works great for patching up cuts scrapes, burns with a square of gauze.

For those that haven?t seen horse wrap it is like a cross between an ace bandage and crepe paper. Sticky on one side, and stretchy. Pull on it a bit and wrap around the limb it sticks to itself to make a nice reinforcement or bandage.

Our local farm stores have it with all different colors and all different markings on it from puppies to smiley faces to whatever. If you have to have blood drawn for testing chances are that they will wrap your arm with it. The medical field calls it Coban(sp) much more expensive but the same thing.

A friend of a friend, an older gent and balding used mane and tail to help with his hair loss, everybody though he was a horses azz, this was proof enough.

The wife has horses so we have vet wrap all over the place. I use it for do it your self band aids. There are some wounds that a band aid just doesn't work well on or I won't have one big enough. I just take a gauze pad cut it to fit and wrap with vet wrap. You can get it in your favorite tractor color too!

I had a large cut on the leg and my medical doctor advised me to go to TSC to get it. Yiou can get it at Walmart but it costs 4 times as much as at TSC since it is packaged for people.

Years ago had a bad cut on arm and another time I really messed up a finger. That is great stuff! You can cut it into strips to fit smaller wounds. A dab of neosporan, and a little gauze, then secure things with a wrap of that stuff. Almost like flexable armored skin. It will slowly go bad so keep it in a ziplock bag. Ozone chews it up. You have to wonder how some engineering guys figured this stuff out. COBAN is a 3M invention. Your doctors office it is flesh color or nutmeg tan.

My wife has blood drawn often and she comes home with some thing like that wrapping her arm. I will ask her if they are treating her as a horse. But then maybe not.

Used it for many years when we had dairy...called it "vet wrap". Nice the way it molds and self-seals to anything it"s wrapped around. Used it on cut teats, leg cuts, etc. Now at the VA, when they take a blood sample, I still call it "Vet" wrap.

Friend has horses. He calls it horse wrap.

I went to eBay and searched for horse wrap.
Here is what I found.
Pet Horse Dog Cat Vet Wound Elastic Self-adhesive Camouflage Bandage Wrap Tape.

Yes, some places called it Vet wrap.

My TSC wants $8 for 4 rolls.
I bought 20 rolls 4''x 5 Yards Self Adhesive Bandage Elastic Adherent Tape.
Total: $25.65 no tax

20 rolls at TSC costs $40 + tax.

We keep several rolls on hand to use on the llamas. One interesting use, when we have a baby with floppy ears we put an unwrapped tampon into the ear to hold it up and wrap the vet wrap around the whole ear. After a week or two we can remove it all and we have upright ears!
