Are the Harbor Freight Predator motors any good? A neighbor has a 212CC Predator on a trash pump. ONly run once. Thanks.

have 5 anything i had that had a briggs has been changed and they start way better then a briggs .they are taking over the go cart racing . they are a Honda clone a lot of parts are the same

As I understand they are good enuff that in some cases Honda has thrown in the towel and
these chinese companies are making parts for Honda.

These are very good engines.

I have two. I change the stock jet to one size bigger.
Put an aftermarket K&N style air filter.
Straight pipe and less restrictive muffler.
Remove the throttle stop.

These are on an adult size minnie bikes. Way snappier and faster.
Can't bust them. That's my experience.

Put one on my wood splitter over 10 years ago after putting up with the Tecumseh, wood splitter doesn't make it work hard, but it has run a lot of hours. Manual said use 10-30, always have and changed it at the start of new season, most times starts first pull.

Iv had a dozen small engines for trac vac systems on my walkbehinds and z mowers. Koehler, Briggs, Honda and 3 predator engines, honestly the flat head Briggs were the longest lasting, the kohler was the biggest junk. I tried predator engines because they were Honda clones and cheap price, they are ok, probably great for a woodsplitter roto tiller water pump ect. The vacuume system just seems to beat the death out of small engines, they run a 12" or 14 " metal impeller, sometimes the conditions are dusty, which dosent help. If I need a small engine for my wood splitter I would buy another predator engine, right now Iv got a Briggs Intek on it like the one in my pic, old trac vac engine I'm keeping for parts.

I moved Thunderbird wheel lines with them for about 5 years. Always start and run well, even on old gas. I had one throw a rod (I think, didn't open it up), but I had bought the warranty. They just gave me a new one. Best avoid ethanol. Plastic carb parts.
