Trees on Island

I posted on here a few weeks ago about building a bridge out to my island in my pond or just going out in the boat and cutting them. Well I decided to get my two oldest grandsons to go out and cut them for me. It looks better and they were happy because I paid them to work for me all day!

Great follow up post Danny, so many posts are left hanging and we never know the end result. Did you include a photo with your original post. For sure a picture is worth a thousand words.

Are those the trees? We call that "brush" around here. A real tree on the island would be pretty cool but would have to be something that didn't mind it's roots in the water. Either way though, that is a lovely pond. Wish it were on my place. I would spend a fair amount of time sitting by it and enjoying it. That little slope in the background with the pines looks about right. Maybe wet a line... nice.

Thanks Crazy Horse I forgot to but I've attached a before picture now. This will be where my house will be setting God willing next year looking at the pond. It never crossed my mind about trees growing on it.

Very nice .... tell the kids to ignore evidence of hidden treasure. Remember Jim Hawkins of Treasure Island fame? I believe he swore off treasure hunting after his classic adventure.

Thanks Dave H. Not many fish left. I stocked it when I had it built but I think I had help with the de-stocking of it. I'm going to restock it after I move out there.

Thanks bmack. It's in Fayette County Tn. about 20 minutes east of Memphis. I live in Memphis but I'm from where my property is. My ancestors settled that area in the 1820's.

Then you need to get rid of herrons, egrets, and the blasted snappy turtles. They are the ones fishing your pond.

I was in Millington, TN. in ?71 with the Navy. Jet mechanic training. Good luck with your house next year, that is my plan also for my CO property. No pond though.

Small world my father in law retired out of the Navy in 71 or 2 from Millington James L. Ross. Good luck with your property to. If anyone has enough land for a pond I recommend they get one dug. Never know when that might be the only water and a big part of food source if need be.

Which method did they use to move the cut off trees to shore: tow ropes or did they haul it all in the boat?

There was only 4 that were any size and they tied a rope to them and I pulled them out with my 3000 Ford. The little stuff we just let fall in the water for cover until it rots. Jeffcat I don't see any herons except every now and then but I'm sure when I get moved out there I will see more. And a couple times a year I take my.22 with scope and spend a day turtle hunting. Now that's more relaxing and enjoying to me than fishing!
