PTO Bolt Size

Good morning everyone. Can someone tell me the size and length bolt that holds the PTO shaft on to a 5' brush hog? I forgot and need to pick up a couple to take with me this weekend when I go back out to my property. Thanks.

Brush hog is a pretty vague term, it's like saying bicycle! The King Kutter that we had used a 1/2 x 3 1/2, but some JD's are metric. The Bush Hog that we have now uses a special tapered bolt.

(quoted from post at 09:21:03 11/07/18) It's a Howse nothing special just a normal old bolt just can't remember the size.

Go to one of the farm stores to get PTO shear bolts...#2 grade 3 1/2 x 1/2...will cost $8-12 for three. The same bolts will be less than $1.50 each at the local hardware store. Exact same for half as much or less.

1/2'' bolt 3'' long with nylon lock nuts is what fits all of mine, I have at least 4 or 5 and all different brands but really all the same thing.

Thanks everybody it'll save me a trip. I like to do some clearing with my cutter this time of year in the thickets I have on my property. It's easier to see how big the saplings are with the leaves clearing out and over the winter the stubble dies off. I've been doing this for 20 years since I first bought my property it was abandoned farm land that had grown over for about 20 years or so. I've made a great deal of progress and tore up a few brush hogs along the way! Especially when I found the pile of wood that the power line people cut and left laying. When I started I had a 600 Ford and a 4' hog and the tractor is still going gotta love those old Fords pretty much bullet proof.
