Went back and plowed some more again this afternoon.

Got a few hours this afternoon to play some more in the dirt, so tried a different field that was offered to me. This was black dirt. Plow would dig nice and deep but it was almost too wet and clung heavily to the shares. Plugged up about four times.

Shares gettin' cleaner every time now though. Seems like the frontmost share is the least shiny, adn the cover boards just like to plug up badly.

Also did some playing around with the mower edging the bean field now that the crops are out.

My coulters are able to swing back and forth quite a bit. The furthest back furrow one is set about 1" to the land side of the plow at maximum swing. The other two can go about 3" over. Should these be "swinging loose" or should they be tightened in place somehow?

Looks good carry at putty knife and scrape the
cover boards clean every couple rounds and they?ll
scour up eventually

Don?t matter if swing. But need to be about 1 inch to left of moboard to make a clean furrow. Set about 3 inches deep when you are plowing 6
inches.

plowed quite a bit with our neighbors AC WD45 with a snap coupler 3 bottom plow.

he plowed in squares and is one of only a couple i've ever seen not counting some ammmish plowing in squares with horses.

plowing inside out was easier than outside in and left a cleaner looking field as you weren't running over the freshly plowed ground at each corner.

got pretty good at it. once the rear tires hit the other dead furrow you'd throw the lift lever up stand on the right brake and crank the wheel around. as soon as the left tire hit the dead furrow you just made you'd drop the plows and take off again. 3rd gear full throttle never really stopped. he plowed all 100ish acres of his farm that way

[b:2f252a8ab3]SVcummins [/b:2f252a8ab3]-- Yeah, I keep an old garden hoe to scrape the shear off as needed and clean the cover board up. I guess the only cure is to go out and plow some more!

[b:2f252a8ab3]VicS [/b:2f252a8ab3]-- Good to know. I probably need to do a "depth check" and see just how deep I am plowing at maximum "lever down".

[b:2f252a8ab3]centralilbaler [/b:2f252a8ab3]-- Dang, I'm not sure you guys would want me. Your furrow lines look clean AND straight! Holy cow, it looks great. Seems like most plow dayers have pull behind instead of mounted plows... Maybe I need to look into that myself.

[b:2f252a8ab3]INCase [/b:2f252a8ab3]-- I haven't quite figured out how to plow the head lands or even properly lay a field out (a planned one with a square field or one that follows the contour of the land, either). That plow in a square method sounds quite interesting!

I lay out a field just like you do and they when it gets
to where you are driving to far for your liking I cut
out a new land and then do it usually make 3 or 4
on an 80 acre piece . I tried the square but your
always driving on plowed ground in the corners and
I doesn?t work with a semi mount or drawn plows .
With two 6 bottom plows hooked together I plow
around field and raise up in the corners really the
only way to do it with a plow that long hooked
behind a quadrac

[b:08c894731c]SVcummins [/b:08c894731c]-- Yeah it doesn't seem to take long before you're driving too far between dropping the plow in. That, and I'm not quite sure how to transition into following the field edge after plowing the straight centers of a field.

[b:08c894731c]centralilbaler[/b:08c894731c] -- Sounds like fun, and appreciate the offer! I was hoping to get some more plowing in tomorrow, but I fear this rain is going to make me done for the year. Dang it!

Ya that’s the only thing with one way plows I usually go until I’m about 300 feet wide and open a new land
