What kind of a cold start did they have? I have one now and it starts pretty good but have not had it in cold weather.

If it has a Simms inline injection pump there's an excess fuel/retard start button that can be used to help with cold starts. Throttle needs to be open 1/3 or more, fuel stop in run position, then push the button in the center of the fuel stop shaft. It should click and stay in, then pop back out after engine starts. Also the injection pump needs the oil changed at least yearly, as it's not lubed by the engine.

Thanks I?ll look at it tomorrow. I will probably have more questions. What oil goes into the injector pump?

Engine oil is fine for the pump too. Be careful not to strip the drain and level plug threads in the housing. Most pumps I get in for repair need heli-coil thread repair inserts. Last Ford 8000 pump needed some welding to repair the housing, owner put in too long of a bolt at the level port. Governor cage caught it, then pushed it out the side, breaking a hole in the housing.
