Buick Encore still waiting for new catalic converter

Called the dealer yesterday to find out if they had any idea when the new converter would be in for our 2014 Encore. No idea was what I was told. I asked if they had a loaner car and what it would cost and she told me there is no cost, just come over and get one. They gave us a 2019 GMC Terain that was new off the truck. We can put 500 miles on it then it goes back and we get another at no cost till they get our car fixed. The parts guy told me that there are so many of them going bad that they will probably issue a recall on them and the Chevy Cruz because they use the same ones and if they do I will get a full refund. I figured we'd get a used vehicle but was totally surprised with the new one. They must figure that we'll like it and decide to buy it WRONG, think we will hang onto the Encore since it's paid for and the Kubota still has 4 years to go with payments. Keith

Hope your Buick gets fixed soon. Sounds like the dealer is taking care of you. Always fun to drive a new car, not always fun to pay for one.

Keith,
I think you found a very good dealer. I would keep him. He definitely wants your business.

I don't care what you buy, sooner or later it will need serviced. A good local dealer is priceless.

We have a second generation Chevy dealer (where I bought my 2011 Silverado since it was the nearest dealer and was family owned) in the nearest town; senior opened it in 1965 and had long since turned it over to Jr. Things hadn't changed much till 2011 when the Govt. had control of GM and they started closing dealerships. All of a sudden he remodels his building, puts in paved parking, covers over his models on display for customer shopping comfort and protection from the elements, especially hail, opens a paint and body shop, installs an OK Used Car lot, comes up with rental cars, loaners, and shuttle service.........apparently that's the only thing that kept him from being one of GM's dealer closures.

Wife has a 2014 Encore. She likes it.
I don't but that makes no difference.
How many miles on yours?

Good luck.

My company works for the gentleman who owns several of the dealerships in town. I needed another vehicle for my general manager and reluctantly bought a new encore and thought that would help grease the wheels. Thought it would last him awhile since he drives a lot. I got rid of that turkey at 80k miles. It might have been the the most costliest vehicle per mile to drive I?ve ever bought when factoring in the repairs and how much I ate it when I sold it. I learned my lesson.

I took my 07 Chev 2500 in last year for trans service and some little recall thing on the passenger seat. I sat down in waiting area with my book to read and a guy came in and said they had a new truck for me to use while I wait. I came back two hours later after they called me and said my truck was ready. I think they were hoping I'd be ready to move up into the new one. I put 50 miles on the new one and had to transfer some supplies out of the back into my truck. They told me to use it so I did.

reat family! Bought first from his dad in 1971, several in between that one and the most recent sept 2018. In the beginning 'Dad' was owner, salesman and his wife was the parts lady. :)

My cat just had the wrong part number on it. Took my Dodge in for a smog test. It passed fine, but the cat had the wrong number. I had to have another one installed for around 300.00 Stan

bought a 2014 chevy cruze diesel last feb, bout 50k miles, had some problems with motor surging. took to dealer under warentee, replace sensor, that didn't work, the egr cooler bad, ordered new one, first 2 were damaged in shipping, 2 weeks to get another, that didn't work, then said there was a air leak in intake hose, got one of those, worked till april, then said catylic converter was disingerating, from the bad fuel I was using, as it wasn't ulsd fuel cause it had red dye in it. took 2 days to convince them it all comes off the same pipeline, they just add the red dye. anywise they ordered a converter, called them in june, nothing yet, july said they got one made its at wharehouse. bout that time I took to different dealer who had a diesel mechanic, said its the sensor
