Finished drilling

The old drill worked just like a dream . Pretty good moisture in the ground no weeds have started to grow since I plowed but hopefully I killed a few that were just sprouting . Going to blow the drill out and spray the feeds with liquid wrench 🔧 so the shafts don?t freeze up again.

Looks great, wish mine was done. This year my beans were early combining started Sept 13 earliest I can remember. Thought I try to put cover crop on for once. I have the seed in the truck been wet and rainy ever since. At least the beans are done. Should have had somebody on a drill following the combine, still hope to get the rye planted.

It looks like you need to find a cultipacker and make a final trip with it to bust the clods and smoothen out all the ridges. Or is it left that way to control wind erosion??

Most of the farmers west of the Missouri leave the ground pretty rough for wind erosion. About the only time you see really smooth ground is alfalfa seeding

Bro, like stated that is how you want it to go through the winter months, it will catch snow and greatly reduce wind erosion,, as you can see the rows when the grain is planted is packed well already with the drill packer wheels, to use a roller packer to me would be stupid out here as the ground has to be looser in between the rows to take in the much needed moisture, by spring you will not see much of those chunks

Thanks. I can?t believe what the little tractor will do . When I was thinking about buying all the keyboard and Facebook farmers had me believe that it wouldn?t pull itself down the road .

I will leave it rough the ridges will ketch what moisture we might get through the winter and hopefully we get some we?ve had probably an inch and a half of rain in the last ten days but you sure wouldn?t know it

Hopefully it?ll dry out long enough for you to get the drilling done . We?ve finally gotten some rain but we need a whole bunch more

I think the biggest thing will be to clean the seed out of it this time and not leave the lids open
