By mistake I poured a can of gas in my Kubota diesel. It started losing power and would cut off. I thought about the filter and then remembered that I had just put a can of diesel in it and thought maybe it had water in it. I went back to the shop and the diesel can was still full. I hope it didn't do any damage. I didn't run it but just a few minutes before it started acting up. I know my grandson won't let me live that down for a long time. I always stay on him to be careful and pay attention to what he is doing. He is 13 and drives everything on the place so he will pick on me about this. Tommy

rain & refill and likely all well......seen it done before.

I can remove the filter and put a funnel with a piece of hose and drain it pretty easy. I will get some diesel fuel tomorrow and try it. My grand daughter laughs about me forgetting things some time. I told her it is caused by birthday cake. All 71 of them. Thank y'all . Tommy

Tom I have been with KUBOTA for over 28 years. You are not the first one to do that. IF you caught it early enough and sounds like you did. Drain everything you can out and replace with fresh fuel. I usually only add abut 2 or three gallon and add any good fuel treatment and maybe 5 ounces of oil. Some below recommended 2 cycle oil and that might be better but more than likely you will be OK.

Yes, my diesel cans are yellow, gas are red, and I never use them for the opposite. What I don't
understand is why kerosene is blue, that should only be for water.

I'm sure you didn't hurt it .Probably gave the injectors a good cleaning. Just drain it put some good fuel in it and go. I filled a Ford 350 with Kerosene one time i just bought 3 quarts of oil poured it in and drove off. Truck never missed a lick.

gas in low does doesn't do as much harm as you think ran a brand new Peterbilt out of Texas 1500 mi before I was notified that the fuel in the tank was about 30% gas .when I delivered it in Seattle told the dealer what had happened they tore the engine down and could find no damage 3406 cat, Im not saying its the best course of action but in tractor for brief time I would not sweat it . just my 2 cents

We add gas to diesel in the winter to keep it from jelling up. Maybe not that strong a mix though.

You should be ok just running it for a short time. I ran my JD on a 50 % gas for quite a while. it started heating and not sounding quite right. A month or so later, I had to rebuild my pump. No engine damage. stan

My Father in law did same on his 35 hp Kubota about 2 years ago, it was knocking and smoking, we drained the tank and changed fuel filters and it has never missed a lick and is no worse for wear.

The old VW 48 hp and 53 hp used to say in the owner's manual that you could add up to 50% gasoline for cold weather operation.

Tom,
The older we get the more likely we will come down with C R S, Can't Remember Stuff, I think!

I filled a hydraulic tank with gas. Ran it for about an hour. No damage. Just drained and refilled.

Might want to check into memory pills, if you could remember to take them.
I can't find my pills.

I know of a man who mixed gas with his heating oil. It blew the chimney of the oil furnace.

I used my gas/oil mix as an accelerant in fire pit.

Drain out what you can , replace the fuel filter dump a qt. of ATF even plain old motor oil in crack the lines to the injectors and crank it over for a bit and try and get more of the gas out of the lines , do not crank for more then 30-40 seconds and allow the starter to cool a bit before doing it again . then tighten up the lines and start it and let it run a bit , she may run a little rough but should clear out . Your not the first one that has done this and ya probably won't be the last either. Mistakes happen .
