Saw this little guy off Hwy. 16 south of Rapid City. I was amazed at all the patent numbers and the date June 6, 1918.
Looks like it may have been built in South America.

Wouldn't that be a hoot, built in South America in 1989 and shipped to the US sometime.

"Chile M.R. Guatemala Registered Industrial Trademark Under no. 1519 MEXICO M IND RETRDA NO15703 JUNE 6,1918"

Trademark was registered June 6, 1918
Not dozer built or model year.

Holt and Best merged in 1925 and formed the Catterpillar company. The 15 was manufactured from 1928 - 1932. I had a Cat TEN with a lower serial number than that one. Mine was a 1928. Caterpillar will tell you date of manufacture and where shipped if you contact them and talk to the right person. Nice find, I regret selling mine.

there are serial # lists around for old Cat machines---that's how I found it was made in 1929
