Don't know what we did wrong but it started to snow about 630 this morning, hasn't stopped yet. Trees still have most of their leaves and probably 85% of corn and beans in the field. We have at least a couple of inches. Cows went out to pasture turned around and came back, must have thought "this isn't what we signed up for". Guess I'll have to put out a round bale, not much grass left any where. Think I'll dig out all the chains and tow ropes,we will need them now. Merry Christmas from snowy SE MN

The 11" we got a few days ago is about 60% gone; the rest is hard ice. Expecting more snow any minute now. Is supposed to get to the 40's tomorrow, so hopefully I can dig a few things out and get them put away proper.

We're used to having Winter hit too fast, but not nearly this early!

We got another 6" yesterday along with rain at first for a couple hours,, 18 this morning and a low for tonight but we are supposed to warm up nice this week, 50's and even 60 two days was the last I seen, had a family of four come through yesterday in the front yard getting to the green alfalfa that I had not mowed off again, the first pic that one young one was jumping and bucking in the snow is why he looks twisted he jumped just as I snapped it

The first 3/4 of the year has been about as miserable as I can remember, harvest and the last 1/4 of the year might as well be as well.

Yeah - wasn't expecting that white stuff!!

Oldest daughter and I went to visit our youngest daughter at college for the weekend. Woke up before the girls... looked out the window and all the cars were covered. Thankfully it was warm enough yesterday, that it seemed to mostly melt on the roadways.

A bit early for the white crud. :(

When we got out of church in Storm Lake this morning the snow coming down reminded me of a winter greeting card picture with the big flakes and evergreens in the background. I got in the van and right away had to clean the snow off the side mirror. The snow kept a comin while we got groceries and by then the grass was mostly white. When left town on the 17 mile trip home the visibility was 1/2 mile and stayed that way until we were about two miles from home, then the snow let up and all that was on the ground was a slight skiff. For once, THEY had more precipitation than we did! Whooee.
