Cost of brake repais

Tough question .... that's like asking how long is a piece of string? So parts only or parts + labor? And what parts you want to replace is also a variable (eg axle seals, etc). Yesterday's tractors sells a lot of stuff right here at probably as good a price as you will find. Here's a link to partially answer your question ....
YT Ford 8N brake parts for sale ....

Just a wild=a$$ guess that I used in carpentry, was take the cost of materials and double it, that'd generally be enough to include the labor.

Depends on what you find when you get in there.

Myself, I would replace the axle seals while there.

The drums, won't know until you see them.

If you are trying to get a price from a shop, be sure to discuss all this with them, just asking what they charge is not a valid question without knowing what it needs.

You mite start out by sharing your machine's serial number and WHY you think you "need new brakes".

In most cases, 8N brakes don't work well enough to ever "wear out", but "oil fouling" is often an issue, and there's a serial number break as to what to do about that.

YAMMV!

Do you have the FO-4 manual? I had a leak on the left axle, on my 9n. Removed 4 nuts and bolts and slid the axle out. They sell an improved seal that slides over the shaft. I do not remember the cost. It wasn't much. Cleaning it up takes time. Time is money when you pay someone else to do the work.

8N takes 4/5 hours to remove axle hub and reseal includes removal of brake backing plate.

9/2N about 6 to 8 hours to remove axles and reseal hub.

Both if you are tooled up and don't run into any 70 year old worn issues...

To pay a shop a 8N with out axles and hubs about $650

9/2N can run $1000.

Both are to return it to as good as new as possible with no hack like fudging on the outer axle seals on a 9/2N by just installing a sure seal...

Clean up time along can run 1 to 2 hours its can me a mess...

That's what I get it does not make me mad at all if I don't get the job... They are not money makers just a fill in job for the love of it...
