Antique Collectible Tractor Auction

Whoever restored that tractor messed something up. You are right TF, it is either a Coop E3 or a Cockshutt 30 with a Buda 153 cubic inch engine and painted orange and labelled as a Coop 20 (with his own decals). He chose to call it a Coop 20 for some reason. Actually there was a Cockshutt 20 which was the same as the Coop E2, they came off the same assembly line in Brantford, Ontario along with the bigger ones. There was also a Coop E4 and E5 (Cockshutt 40 and 50). Lots of those up here (especially Cockshutts) except for the E2 or 20 series which are actually quite rare and hard to find. Not sure how or why a mistake like that would have been made or if it was done on purpose.
 
Yea I own over a dozen Cockshutts from the 20 up to the 570 Super diesel.Even have a very rare one row offset 20 only 7 known to exist last I heard, they were shipped to NC for
tobacco cultivation.
 
Interesting stuff, serial numbers are interesting with the Coop/Cockshutt tractors. I think the Coops were just randomly picked now and then to be a Coop (paint, decals, and grille front strip) and I was told that no actual official record of which tractors were Coops showed up, at least by their serial numbers. Does that sound right?
 
Yea no way to ID what were Coop tractors other than the paint and nose strip.The one row 20 I have was called a "Little Chief" has an Indian head emblem on it.Those were supposedly sold only
by FCX the coop down in NC.Bill Cockshutt said he was pretty sure less than 50 were built.
 
Never heard of the Little Chief story, an interesting one. Two guys in our tractor club had Cockshutt 20's, both were standard fronts which 90+% of tractors up here are. Did the ID plate on the side of the engine designate anything to do with the fact whether it was installed in a Coop or a Cockshutt 20? Something in the back of my mind tells me that I heard that once.
