What size tire on a 12" rim, 13.6?

Hi guys, Please refresh my memory. What size tire belongs on a 12x28 rim? If I remember correctly it should be 13.6? Will 12.4's work? What about 14.9's? Thank you
 
All three tires will work just fine. My SuperM has 13.6,the 400 has 14.9. Both have 12" rims.My super H had 12.4 tires on 12 rims. I put 11.2 on it later($200.00 tire cheaper than 12.4) they 'fit' but were too narrow for my likeing.
 
If I remember correctly, the old rim/tire sizes jumped up to the new tire size. 10" rim became the 11.2 tire. The 11" rim became the 12.4 tire. The 12" rim became the 13.6 tire, and so on... So, you're on the right track...
 
13.6 and 14.9 both approved for use on a 12 inch rim. 12.4 tire is too narrow. You can substitute a wider
tire onto a rim but the Tire and Rim Mfgr's Association recommends NOT using a narrower tire.
 
13.6-28 (on a 12" rim) as stated on the sidewall of the tire.

I have 2 tractors with those tires and 12" wheels and another with 13" wheels and no marking on the tire, 13.6-28. The two types of tires, although the
same numbering, appear to be different in overall size. Not sure the width of the wheel being 1" wider is why. I think it's something about the 12" spec
changing something physically in the design of the tire.
 

On a 28" rim. 14.9x28 is by FAR a better choice..

Those are what came on the WD-45.. on 12" rims..

Still have the AC Semi-mounted 4x14" plow..handled them well..

I have 13.6x38" on my 11" rims on my JD "B"...

Looks GOOD...really digs in and leaves next to NO ruts in soft ground..!!
 

The "Old" size was 13x28"..

Now, the replacement for them is 14.9x28"

There IS a big difference between them..
