I can get a 48 Case SC, not really sure what I will need but are parts readily available for these thing. I know I will have to go thru the engine. I guess the main things, engine Internals, carb, ignition system.

This site sells after market parts and most everything needed for maintaining the old tractors. Case still inventories the bearings, seals and other non-cast parts for the letter series tractors.

Interesting. A few years ago, I went into my local Case-IH dealership and asked about parts for a Case CC. I asked them what would be available for an engine overhaul. They just smiled and shook their heads, without even getting on the computer or trying to drag out an old parts book. I've known these parts men their whole life, as I went to school with them.
Now I've seen some aftermarket pistons and sleeves that are available, but was interested in anything else.
I guess they just didn't want to make the effort.

SC Cases can be tough to find parts for, but there are a few sources out there. Joe Saeli at external_link has a lot of good stuff. Engine sleeve and
piston kits are only available from a couple people who have them made (they can be found on eBay). Don Livington at Rusty Acre is one guy. He is mainly a
CASE guy, so I usually check him first. Ignition parts, if you have a Case magneto, can be hard to find. Rudy Calin at Rebuiltmags has a good amount of
ignition parts for Case mags. If it has been converted to distributor ignition, those parts will be easy to find. Carburetor parts will be easy to find
(mostly on this site or other comparable sites).

As far as engine bearings, I hope your originals are in ok shape. They are no longer available through Case IH, or anyone else for that matter. Don
Livingston and/or John Saeli will be your contacts on that... Another good source is the Facebook JI Case group sites. Lots of good people out there who may
be able to help with something they just have laying in their shed.

Enjoy the SC, as they are great little tractors. I was just using mine yesterday (I have an early '41 with center exhaust). I also keep a registry of all
1941 Case SC center exhaust tractor.

I would think that Case IH decided to only offer a full line of parts for the IH side simply because IH made SO many more tractors. I mean, the H has nearly 400,000 units, and the M a little over half that. Case SC production barely crossed the 60,000 mark, and same goes with the DC. As a company, I guess it would make sense to offer more parts for more popular tractors.

At least that was what I came up with in my head while reading and thinking about your reply...

I'm sure you're right. This Case-IH dealer was an IH dealer before Case took them over and, to them, Case is still a dirty word.

My mind was muddled. In my mind, the merging of Case with IH put the Case SC in the same place as a Farmall SC. I'm familiar with the Farmall line but don't know anything about Case. This is a good example of - If you read it on the Internet...
