Also at the auction they sold a JD 4520 with a Hiniker cab old tractor looked clean, not beat, started right up, ran good bought $2900 seemed like a bargain to me but I'm not up on JD.

Must have been a poorly advertised sale. The JD 4520 and 4620 are getting collectable. One of them would usually bring two or three time more money.

They were nothing special on the farm. They were really under powered for their size and the JD 30 series was a lot better tractor. So they were quickly replaced. Their recent price increase is just the collector market moving up to newer stuff.

For that kind of money I would like to have it. I bet I spent that much putting together a lift assist for my 12 row cultivator so I could cultivate with my CX100 Case. With the 4520 I wouldn't need assist and I would have a tractor to boot.

Its a consignment sale held twice a year about 100 miles from my place well known sale but of course people drag things on Thurs or Friday so they don't get much advertising except pictures on
Auction Zip.They also sold a 7520 think that bought a little over $5000.You can see the pictures on Auction Zip sale at Amelia Virginia 10-6-18.

I think its the 1000 PTO only that kills the value of a tractor in my area, most farmers of all sizes still have a lot of 540 PTO equipment.I was thinking of bidding on it until I saw the
1000 PTO shaft.

Probably to big for the wannabe farmers

I don't know about that. They usually want way more tractor than they need.

I looked into the 4520 and 4620 at one time. They were all 1000 only. Of the 20 series the biggest was the 4320 with dual speed. Just like the 4020 have to change out the stub shaft. I think the 4630 is 1000 only. 4430 is dual speed.
