Called the local dealer stooge incorporated aka stotz equipment needed a sway block for my 3020/4020 I lost one plowing earlier this fall get the parts guy uh there?s a serial number break and then uh I can?t get it . That?s funny I just looked it up last week so I hung up out of curiosity I decided to look it up again sure enough still available and all sub to a part number 39513 called back and gave the part number uh well I?ll have to order it no s**t I already knew that you guys don?t even stock a section for a John Deere combine header please order it . And I wonder why I even bother trying to do business with those clowns .

I've usually ordered any JD parts on-line, without asking anyone at the dealership. I get an e-mail confirmation, and whether or not any of the dealers within 50 miles or so have the needed part. A stock order is, most every time, ready for pickup in a couple of business days. I'm pretty happy with my local JD dealer. They've always been helpful. All of my equipment is older, 1020 tractor, 24T baler, 9W mower, model H spreader, etc.

The dealer here changed hands 3 years ago. They got all new parts staff, they know when I come in I know what I?m talking about, so they just enter the part number and order it. They even ask me questions sometimes, and I?m only 17! I don?t have any complaints for them.

I normally always just go online and order the parts
as well but I was driving truck and thought they
could handle the job but they couldn?t

The dealer I normally go through Is really good but I am always in town where the local dealer is local meaning 50 miles not 150 so I?d like to give them the chance but good grief they don?t stock anything at all and they?re 15% higher priced on every single part than the good dealer who will also bring the part right to my doorstep

Our local dealer only handles subcompacts and smaller, but if I have a part number for my bulldozer they will do there best to get it for me.

I sheared the bolt the cylinder drive on my 9500 in some pretty green beans. I stole the last spare out of the 9510 so I went to deere for more spares. After 15 minutes of looking on the computer they finally found the bolt. Turns it its a standard 1/4 x3 bolt, $2.25 or a grade 5 bolt!
Last Sunday I had a bearing go out on the 9500, called the after hours parts number, said were here come on in, get the bill $45 call in charge. There was at least 5 other people in there, so guess all of them got stuck with the charge!

Remember when I used to get flamed for posting about these same issues with Deeremart? I do. It was as bad as saying anything political. I can't believe I was the first one to be treated that way or to give up on them, but I'm sure glad to see that it wasn't just me. I guess it just didn't take me as long to get fed up with it and switch brands.

As bad as deere is it's still fast and cheaper than anything I need from new holland. I think most of the problem is the people that own the dealership.

I bet you could of found a good used one or aftermarket one on ebay and skipped the dealer all together.

I don't disagree with you at all. Some folks on here tell of good experiences with their local dealer. Other's have bad experiences with other brands no matter which one it is. We're just blessed with single location,or just a few locations, for other brands. When the owner is sitting right there in his office,I think it makes a huge difference. With Deere,it went from being the place where everybody hung out to chew the fat,to being like putting your hand on a hot stove again every time you walked in the door. There's no way in the world some of those parts guys would act like they do if the owner could see it. They'd be out of there so fast they'd leave skid marks.

I'm with you Randy,, our Mega dealer's parts department is in a mess, the counter people are clueless..I have one person that I e-mail my list to and he replies to me so that I know it happened..I get all that I can from other sources,, I only buy around $10,000 of parts a month and less than half of that comes from the Mega dealer..The Mega dealers are a parts marketer,,they get a lot of their parts from suppliers that build and box for them,,they have a huge mark up,,AP air and Reliance engine parts are some of their suppliers..along with a few clutch manufactures..I get parts from these and others to make good dependable repairs at a cost savings that I pass on to my customers,, I have low over head cost so that lets me work cheaper but still make a good living,,the Mega dealers have an extreme over head with the fancy buildings built on high dollar real estate,, so they must sell at high cost with low paid employees,,and the need to go over the top on repairs made in their shops...and all of this is with the blessings of Deere corporation..Deere pushed the Mom and Pop stores out of business with a forceful move of ether go "BIG" or go out,,and ever since then the Loyalty has went down hill.. It is a sad state of affairs,,but that is the direction that Momma Deere wanted to go...we will be seeing if the Mega dealers are too big to fail,,,and if that happens poor service will turn to "no" service...

Ya,I used to go there for everything,no matter what brand. Bearings, belts, hoses, chain, oil, hardware, you name it. They sold several short lines too. When I had to start going to other dealers for the short line stuff and got treated like a human being again,I just wondered why I was beating myself up going back to the super store.

Counter sales will be around for a long time, but the percentage of counter sales compared to online sales will continue to fall fast. We might as well get used to buying almost all parts online.

Sway blocks rarely break or wear out, so the demand for them is probably very very low. Salvage yards may not even save all of them because they will never sell their current inventory. If a dealer tries to stock parts like that they will often hear "Why should I pay $100 for a new one when I can get a salve part for less than $20? The result is manufacturers only need to stock a only a few pieces in a central warehouse and none at any dealers.

Tee ..... yours is an interesting comment. I think most of us think our business is so important to a store that they are going to fret over losing us as a customer. Sorry, ain't gonna happen. Like being unhappy with your bank that you've been dealing with for 40 years and you want them to match some kind of an interest rate that some obscure financial institution is offering, otherwise you're gonna close all your accounts and transfer that and all your investments somewhere else. It would be one of those "Don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out" situations. As much as we think we are crucial to their survival, the fact is that we aren't and in most cases, they could care less.

At least locally Deere is still cheaper and the counter help is pretty good. New Holland the counter people are good but the prices are high and the management/ ownership is problematic for me anyways. Case IH was another difficult one but maybe their attitude is better since Claas choppers and combines are not rolling out the door by the dozen currently.

I have no problem with a dealer "not" having a part it stock,,,I have a real issue with the service at the counter.. Any restaurant can make a Good Ham sandwich.... but you will go back the the one that treats you right...

the replacement axle from JD was $230. The entire extension assembly with a welded in axle is over $1,000. More than I paid for my spare baler. JD parts are 2-3 times the normal cost of anything. I am a JD quality fan, but when something breaks, I am pretty much working for free (small time hay farmer).

I don?t care if they don?t stock parts for a 50 year old tractor but they could be smart enough to look it up

I really don?t see switching brands as an answer to anything the local fix it again tony cnh global is no better and Massey Ferguson buy Massey Ferguson also stocks no parts for anything and they chased off the only decent parts guy they had who actually a girl they can?t find it without me looking up the parts and calling with the numbers and then the parts at either Agco or fiat are always 2 weeks out with freight on top . For most of my equipment i get aftermarket or used parts from an independent guy . I needed plow shares earlier fiat don?t stock em independent guy died and 20$ cheaper per share than fiat who also sells an aftermarket brand of share . Needed a disc blade for little ih disc and a spool again fiat 90$ for the spool not in stock plus freight and 60$ for a blade again same guy had the blade in stock for 29$ and a spool for 30 in stock . Now for the fiat offshoot brand I need 4 bearings and the flanges for my Hesston swather 500$ and not in stock haven?t made it back to the project yet but going to check with the small guy again my guess he?ll have them all for under 150$ . Ten years ago I had the choice between two small John Deere dealers each with only one store in their ?chain ? and the owners family worked at the store . 5 years ago finally lost the last little dealer who got bought out buy stooge don?t even bother calling them anymore . The other dealer is still really good but I do like to try and do business with the locals when I can .

It all local. Like I said,I'm just glad we have good dealers here for other brands. I feel for you if you just have to tough it out and take bad service.

My whole point though was that ten years ago, when I complained about bad service from Deere,I might as well have been complaining about the president today. I'd get the crap kicked out of me. Seems like the chain stores here started the trend to poor service and it's spread all over the country.

You must have been at the beginning of the end . I don?t do much with the dealer of any brand because they are all worthless . This area is so small they know we don?t have a choice but to take it or leave it . They parts houses have the prices of things like panther pi$$ and oil set at just the right price so it doesn?t quite make sense to drive to the next town just to buy a can of liquid wrench every time I go out of town I stock up on things like that .
