1950s Montgomery Ward Power Trac Rider

Good Afternoon,

We are hoping to find someone who might be able to help us (or point us in the right direction) in putting a value on our 1950s Wards Power Trac Rider (model 5055A) which has 4 attachments. I was able to download an owners manual (Midland Garden Tractors)but have had no such luck finding anything sold which would help us put some sort of value on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Maybe someone will surprise us both, had a brother in law he used to repair $1500 typewriters all day long
but not any longer, ship has sailed.

I'll weigh in. I see these oddballs come up for sale locally from time to time. While I don't know about your machine specifically, I wouldn't expect more than $500--and that's probably pushing it. It is in less-than-loved condition and collectors of old yard machines usually don't part with much money for them. I wouldn't stake your retirement on it.

Of course it may be some ultra-rare and sought after thing that renders my assessment null and void. Try listing it for sale, see if
You get any bites.

I'm no expert by a long shot(by why let that stop me). I'd say you are about $1800 in repairs away from a nice $600 vintage tool.

Plus, the market for your restored as new gew-gaw is vanishingly microscopic. I would say there are maybe 14 people on the planet vying for the chance to purchase your objet' d arte.

Best of luck though.

If you love it then don't worry about about a price. Carefully fix it up and then take it to tractor and machinery shows. Proudly ride it in the tractor parade. Hold your head high and keep your butt on that pan seat! Bet ya lots and lots of people wave to you.

First question; Does it run ? If so, it has some value - don't expect much. I'd likely pay $300 - $500, but only if it runs. HTH

Live life on the edge SMH ..... take a wild guess, nobody here will put it on social media. What would you take for it if a guy walked up to you tomorrow AM with a pocketful of money and said to you "I will pay you what you think is a fair price" ..... you gotta have some kind of an idea.

I got a Toro Professional for $15 last month. It does not run, yet, and it does not even have the mower attachment.
Just something to play with someday.

Don't expect it to sell for more than scrap minus the hauling to scrap yard. No body wants them. I have several of the 2 wheeler versions that this winter I expect will be going to scrap yard. Just clean it up and get it running and take to tractor shows as most will have never seen anything like that. 2 wheel version were common but not the 4 wheel version. Just don't hitch anything behind it and exprct it to turn as it will not, it will just slide the rear tires and keep on going straight.

Thanks everyone! Definitely a really neat tractor so we'll probably fix it up and keep it as someone suggested. I appreciate everyone's input!
