location rant

Why are so many folks here reluctant to add their location be it state or area? Sometimes I see someone I would be happy to give a hand if they were halfway close. In modern it comes up automatically. Let us know, I promise not to drop in uninvited.

47,
I worked on a job in your area , it was the all concrete house , can't remember the
road name . Used to be a fellow on here that had AC tractors and lived nearly across
from the house.

I'm on the Pa line , but in Md by 1000 ft.

Well, who want to go on a hunt looking for where a guy lives? But if it were mentioned in an original post and if helpful, in a reply, it would be handy sometimes, especially when where you live might add something to what you have to say.

I agree. I would be especially helpful when some gives the weather, but just says 'here'. Does not help if you don't know where 'here' is.

How ironic. A post ranting about no locations GIVES NO LOCATION ! LOL.
And just to make you feel better I'm in Ohio. Spend most of my time in Ashland and Wayne counties.

I agree. I don't think my location shows up but if I post weather or crop talk I try to add , Kevin in Central AL.

His and anyone who list there location does show in modern view.
Not in Classic view.
Do we really need classic view anyway?

If you are so worrierd about it just ask the moderaters to return that info to classic like it used to be before they droped a lot of information to get users to go to modern that most, and that is from a post from the moderaters, do not use. And I do not know how to find it now. My location is listed as well as on the map and I have given location many a time so should be no reason to have to post every time.

The only thing modern view is good for Is finding an
old post that Is 12 pages deep on classic . On
Modern you have no idea who?s talking to .

What does it matter. For most conversations on there location means nothing. Only really matters when asking for physical help, location of parts/tractors, weather and few other things. Other than that it really isn't anyone elses business where someone is from.

Rick

Some folks might not want to be found. As for me I don't care, now if you keep this you will know where I am. Shiawassee county MI

By the same token, I could say why do we need "modern" view?
Not every change is an improvement.
Many of us (myself included) simply do not LIKE modern view. I find it cumbersome. Classic view is simple and uncomplicated.

Both views have their advantages but if I had to choose just one it would be modern view. My location is listed there so I never think I have to mention it.

And the features we are missing that we would like to have on classic view used to beon here before they brought out modern and droped them like a hot potato. Am sure they could be put back if they wanted to, if it worked then why would it not work now?

on't always know on classic either. depends on the care of the responding poster, as he can post under any earlier post??? or under the original post?

When this site goes to encrypted pages, (any day know) you guys that only use and prefer classic will really be crying if you do not have great internet service.

Keeping Classic functional is like trying to use [u:e9bcebd8c4]only[/u:e9bcebd8c4] N.O.S. parts to keep your pre WWII tractors functional.

A note to everyone mentioning that the location does not show up in Classic. There is an "Options" link at the top of every forum that if you click it, you will see a "Show Poster Details". That puts an option cookie on your computer that will cause those details to show up in Classic.
