pulled the head on the B. boy what a mess, took pics but forgot to put the card in camera. looks like it will clean up nice though. my question is, has anyone used one of the aftermarket gasket sets and are they any good ?? also what's a good way to clean the passages in the block, lots of crud in there. gonna push it outside and put the garden hose to it but that will only get the floaters. will send head out to have done.

In my view Deere gasket sets for the two bangers are mere rebadged cheap aftermarket gaskets. Last winter I got a head gasket from Deere that had some stud holes punched 1/4” off center. I sent it back and got a perfect fitting gasket from felpro.

At one time I purchased them through NAPA, but you had 2 options , One was a complete gasket set &
they offered on as a head gaskets set.. I caution you , a head set might not give you all the gaskets
needed. The J/D head set should give you what is needed but the Price is the factor.. Most of the time
if one gasket is short like Lower Water Pipe of carb to manifold , they could be made. I don't know
whether you've removed the manifold from the head but NOW IS THE TIME to service or replace the manifold
gasket.. Main parts you need is Head, Valve cover , valve cover sealing cooper or aluminum stud washers
& the lead washer for the head bolts. Those other gaskets could be made easy. If you are removing the cyl.
block they a complete over haul set would be needed.
