That was basically my Dad and next door neighbor chopping corn in the 60's except it would have been a one row JD chopper behind a JD70. They shared the equipment and thus the 70 was the neighbors tractor. In those days a 1 row JD corn chopper was a heavy machine and with a load of corn in the back it was all the 70 wanted to handle. Dad supplied the belt power to the silo blower which for a long time was a W9. Eventually it became a Cockshutt 50. Neither had problems putting silage up a 40 ft silo.
 
First one looks like an Allis Chalmers, neighbor had one, only chopper I ever saw that would split an ear of corn lengthwise and cut the stalks about the same size
