Front tires going flat...

So my WD mowing tractor has new-ish front tires (one is a year old, the other is 5 years old). Well, I think locust thorns and woody stubbs got the better of me this season, as they both went flat this week. They hold air, but go back flat again within a day.

So is my fix for this to get the tires taken off, the old tube taken out (and any sharp pointy garbage taken out of the rubber), and a new tube put in and remounted?

And then quit mowing the ditches with it.

There is a fix a flat type product called thorn dope that seals real well. I have had some in a front tractor tire for the past 20 years, and I have never even had to add air to this tire! A tire shop that deals with tractor tires should have it.Mark.

There are a few tricks that may work.
#1 put a bottle of slime in each of them
#2 if you can find them there us to be a tire liner that helped a whole lot.
#3 take a couple old tubes cut them open and laid them in the tires and then put in the tube.
#4 put a set of used steel belted radial on the rims they hold up better to thorns

Will do yourself a big favor, I owned a tire shop for 22 years. Do just what you said. I have taken hundreds
of farm tires apart with slime/stop leak in them. I can tell you from experience, it doesn't work.

Slime took care of tires that we mowed around trees with a lot of thorns. Tire shop removed the thorns they could find and put new tube in and slime in it. That was the only way to keep from be at tire shop having tires repaired.

Well, after my next mowing, gonna take the tires in to get 'em fixed. Guess it's a good time to check the wheel bearings while I've got the tires and rims off anyway.

Only real way to fix tires with thorns in them is ,
throw them away and buy new tires. Little bits of
thorn will be working their way through the rubber,
and poking the tube forever. Slime is a good name
for the crook that came up with that tire sealant
junk.
