Had to park the truck and play soccer.

I drive a Mack dump truck occasionally for some friends. The current project is an addition to an elementary school which of course is now open with lots of kids around. I was having to back in past a front lawn on my right with kids and two teachers apparently teaching them how to play soccer. I was keeping a sharp eye on the kids and suddenly, when backing in with my second load, as I looked in the left mirror, there goes a soccer ball past the back of the truck. A glance back to my right and there are twenty kids and two teachers standing looking with their mouths open. I stopped immediately, jumped out, ran to the ball and threw it to the nearer teacher, who then had a big smile on her face, and some kids yelled thanks. No guessing about who was going to do what, and a little PR for the various construction crews on site.

I used to come to work on Monday, and there would be a bunch of balls in my office backyard from spirited play next door over the weekend. I'd just throw them back over the fence. Once, the little kids were playing in their yard when I started throwing them over, and they started cheering as each came over the fence. Their parents came over and thanked me for throwing them back rather than gathering them up and throwing them in the garbage, and I said it was just the right thing to do. Told them I like to see kids have fun.

When I was a kid I remember visiting my dad?s esentric uncle in the city. As we were leaving he gave me a grocery bag full of balls that he
had gathered out of his yard from the neighbor kids. Some people are a little different.

(quoted from post at 04:44:53 09/11/18) Don't you know it's against the rules to touch the soccer ball with your hands??? You should have kicked it back to them and showed them your mad ball-handling skills.

Barnyard, I was playing goalie position, LOL.

I do a maintenance at a YMCA some of
the equipment is located on the roof I
always make it a priority to toss the
footballs scoccer balls etc down into
the yard when I'm up there. It only
takes a minute and the staff and kids
are happy. Just like showcrop said a
little pr goes a long ways with
something that only takes a few short
seconds.
