Any Power King guys here

I posted in Lesser Known Tractors but got no response. I have a chance to buy a Power King 2414. Looks to be in good condition but is well used, The gentleman who owns it is shutting down his small roadside farm and his daughter offered it to me. Problem is she doesn?t know what it?s worth and neither do I. It has a small plow and disc attachment. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a 2418 that is just like the 2414 except for the engine. Good little tractors - they're simple so not much to go wrong and easy to fix yourself if it does. I think of them as sort of an "in between" size in that they're physically larger and more capable than most other garden tractors (especially the 24XX models with the 24" rear tires) but smaller, lighter, and more maneuverable than a small farm tractor like my Deere M. Early models had a non-standard hitch system but the later models had a regular Cat 0 three-point and I'd definitely want that feature. If you have plans for the rototiller or snowblower attachments you'll want the optional second transmission to get the "crawler" gear ratios. The presence of the extra transmission can be identified by the second shift lever just in front of the seat - without it there will be just an empty hole there. The regular single 3-speed will work fine for all other implements. Sometime around 1980 or so they got a 4-speed transmission and eliminated the tandem 3-speed transmission option. There are places on-line that specialize in replacement parts for Power Kings and service and operators manuals are also readily available.

If they are in really nice condition and have several attachments they can easily bring $1500-2500. Good rugged little tractors.

That's a nice-lookin' little tractor. Sure wish I had one of those for mowing with, over that stupid Husqvarna I currently have! Ground is too soft most of the time to use anything larger/heavier.

Even in early winter, the first couple of times of plowing snow, the JD 4010 and my current Dodge 1500 plow truck both make ruts. Ground is really soft here! Water table is normally within a couple feet of the surface. This year we're really dry.

I have 4 of them, real good little tractors, my first one was a 16-14 16" rear wheel 14 hsp engine bough it at a consignment auction $600 single transmission Only thing wrong with it was the bolts that hold the transmission in place were loose I have since added a second transmission to it. Second one was an Economy with a B&S engine starts first pull no matter what the weather, It's my snowplowing tractor. Third was a Jim Dandy that was in pieces on a pallet. Has a Kohler engine and is the best starting of them all. $300. Number 4 is a 24-12 that I found on Craigs list 60 miles away it ran but not very well, $700 It has a 3pt hitch and tandem transmissions. I have 3 mower decks and I mow with a Case lawn tractor and a 1973 John Deere 112. J D seller is right on the prices if they are in real good shape
