Most probably also remember RC Cola (Royal Crown). Other than store brands like Kroger, IGA, AP etc, I remember 3-V Cola, and what did 3-V stand for? - Vim, Vigor, Vitality! Any others?

I found an Ionia cola bottle the other day. Coca Cola had a bottling plant in Ionia Michigan and the made their own brand too.

Two on the side are 7 Up. One in the middle Dr Pepper.

We had Nehi in grape, orange and strawberry, and Chocolate Soldier, and of course Texas home grown Dr. Pepper. Barg?s root beer was another.

I still prefer RC to Pepsi, and can't even gag down Coke. Randy beat me to Faygo (Rock & Rye yummmmmm), but he forgot the BEST Michigan soda Vernors. Now owned by a national brand so it may spread.

Were... Squirt, Fresca, A&W Root Beer, Tab, Frostie's Root Beer, Mellow Yellow, and Mountain Dew around at that point, too?

How could we have forgotten A & W?

I remember when you could take your own jug and buy it by the gallon.

Yes I remember Chocola. I intended the topic to be colas, but the discussion always follows it's own way !

I doubt many of you have heard of Ski soda. It is kind of a local (southern Illinois) niche. Company started in 1936, Breese Illinois.

I had no idea they have that big of a market. I had a co-worker in St. Louis who lived near Breese. He would bring cases to work and sell bottles to us at cost. I think he picked it up at the bottling factory.

up until mid 80s they had a bottling plant in Evansville Indiana, I live in Mississippi now,, when ever I go back to Evansville I stock up on Skis, There main plant is in Chattanooga Tn

I hear people up here in Central IL complain they can't find SKI, but it still exists!

I was always a cr?me soda fan, and there was one called Paradise Club, IIRC. Came in kind of a funky bottle, a little reminiscent of Dolly Parton- bigger toward the top, then slimmer the rest of the way down.

We (sisters and cousin) had been hearing all the hype about Sprite when it was introduced- had been talking about it, wondered if it would be better than 7-Up. Dad apparently overheard us, because the next time we went someplace, he stopped at a store and came out with a bottle of Sprite for each of us. I remember a very serious discussion between us- we decided it was better than 7-Up (had a "lighter" taste). Think it was in 1960 or so.

Nesbitt's Orange was the best. I haven't seen it in Iowa for many years. "Nesbitt's on the Bottle is like Sterling Stamped on Silver".

I remember back in the 1970s we were always working away from home and would have lunches packed for us by mom. She being in charge of the money decided that everyone got Buck Horn beer instead of soda because it was cheaper. I still remember a mechanic giving me the stink eye as I ate my lunch and drank my beer while he was working on the combine - I was about 12 at the time....

Didn't notice anyone mention Sun Drop. It was and still is a major seller in W. Ky. A second one was Double Cola.

Cotton Club around the Cleveland area. Ginger ale plus a lot of fruit flavors. I also liked Vernors and Orange Crush, the old stuff before they sweetened it to death and took out much of the flavor. Randy, I used to listen to CKLW in Detroit and they advertised Faygo. Then we finally could get it around here.

Is this restricted to "colas" if not, how could you forget "Bubble-up" "we'll all be drinking that free Bubble up and eating rainbow stew"

Mountaineer Cola in West Virginia. Had a buckskin clad mountaineer with flintlock on it.

MR Pib,MR Cola,Grapette,Nehi grape and orange,Nesbit orange,RC cola,Shasta grape,orange,strawberry,Barges,A&W root beer,

Oh yes, Pokagon brand were good. I lived in mich, near the Ind. border. Pokagon was popular in the area.
'58-'60, as an active teen(around Angola) we liked to pour a little bag of peanuts into our 'pop' bottle. esp Coke.
Get a little crunch with each swallow !!

We had a pop called ?Ginny ? kind of a sour lime. Never was quite sure if it was just supposed to be used as mix. We also had local bottling plants , Pure Springs, and Wilson?s. Coca-Cola bought both of these. There was also a Ginger Beer, but neither wife or I can remember the name, wicked stuff, might have been Red Stripe.

Bottles that I have found from cleaning up an old sawmill included Kickapoo Joy Juice and Climax Ginger Ale.

We had Lotta-Cola. It was in 16 oz bottles when others were 12 and 6.5. Very good and not as sweet.

I was born in Ypsilanti, MI. near Detroit. We had a drink called "Up Town" It had a little jingle that they used to advertise it. "If you are too Pooped to Pop, Get UP, UP, UP with UP TOWN. Dsmythe

I have an Ionia bottle! You might remember me telling you I lived in Ionia in the '70's? How about Yoohoo? Chocolate. Have a friend who's wife's parents owned Grapette, and she collects any Grapette memorabilia and advertising.

I knew someone would remember Upper 10. Found an empty while hunting around Clinton Illinois. Mom told me it was the forerunner to Mt Dew
