$110 a ton for tin

Once a year I take my pile of junk tin to recycler. When tin was $200/ton there would have been in a long line at the recycler. I was the only one there.
My rusty scrap tin $110/ton.

What are your scrap prices? Is your recycler busy?

I just took in a load of mixed steel, mostly sheet (as you say tin), last Thursday, they were paying $150/ton. The yard was pretty slow compared with when the price went over $200/ton.

I thought the tariffs would make our scrap prices go up.

There's a lot of stuff that I don't understand.

Last time I was at the scrap yard, I was buying some steel. Paid $0.18/lb. Saw trucks and trailers coming in all day long making multiple trips.

For folks who make their living bringing in scrap, guess it pretty much don't matter what the prices are if they wanna eat.

Owner said it'd been that busy for a couple weeks. Was pretty much dead before that. This was about a month ago.

I sold some vehicles a few weeks ago and they paid me $175 a ton for complete ones.

Funny one. The one car was a good running car. Needed all the fuel and brake lines replaced. Would have made someone a good work beater. I advertised it for $500 and got calls wanting me to donate it to this or that charity fund raising group. I checked into each group and not much of the money made it back to the cause they where supporting. More like lining their own pockets. Did get a couple of people wanting a cheap car but none of them wanted one that needed any work. They acted all insulted that I would not fix it and sell it for the $500. LOL Sold it for scrap and got just under the $500. Local junk yard did not want it too old. 1991 Olds 98 car.

It's kind of a mixed bag here right now.None are real busy, one place I know of is not buying steel at all.I had always thought a lot of our junk went to China or Japan, but a lot of it here goes to Canada. This guy has been shut down completely on his scrap sales to Canada.A year ago light iron went up to 3 cents,it had been a penny a pound. My friend that hauls scrap told me that the yard told him to call before loading,he might just be taking the iron for a ride back home if he doesn't check first.A few years ago the price of heavy iron went into the stratosphere.I sold a D-6 dozer to the scrapyard for $365.per ton. And,I was paid for a real U.S. ton,2000 pounds, not a gross,or metric ton,2240 pounds.Yesterday whole electric motors were 30 centa a pound, and clean aluminum was 25 cents.

Cleaned up my yard last week. Since I got out of being a land lord, I no longer need extra appliances, and the car port has other uses. Got $75 a ton.

I took my pile of mixed iron and steel to the scrapper about a month ago. Got $.05 a pound ($100.00 per ton). Since the alternative was to haul it all to the dump, I guess it was worth it.

Last week mixed here was 140, I expect that to decline, China said a couple weeks ago they would stop buying aluminum scrap at that time and expected to stop buying iron. Don't know what has happened since.

Dont get much steel, but our roofing company makes a lot of aluminum scrap. Mostly flashing and old gutter. The yard gives us a few cents over board price and I think I got 45cents a pound maybe 2 months ago. Took a load in last week and got 30cents. I assume it's the tarrifs.

we been cleaning up the home place since mom passed last year, took a load in 2 weeks ago was 100.00 ton mostly old roofing tin and scarp steel.
