More people request follow-ups to questions and solutions. A while back I ask about sealing up a moon/sun roof on my car. Silicon caulk was suggested as well as undercoating and some even suggested cleaning out the drains which are really not accessible. Moresmoke suggested Eternabond tape. After going to their website, I thought that would be my solution. I ordered some and put in on the car to seal the moon/sun roof. After 4 days of driving in the rain at 75mph my report outstanding. No leaks, the tape shows no signs of release along edges. I am more than happy withtheproduct. Thank you Moresmoke for your suggestion. Thank you all for your input.

Never use silicone... other coatings wont stick to it and it is very difficult to remove ALL of it if other repairs are needed in the future. I have heard nothing but good things about the eternabond tape. I think you made a excellent choice

My only experience with it was a camper I bought that had a horrible patch job on the roof made out of it. That stuff was a witch to get off. There was nothing wrong with the product, just the workmanship in that case.

Just an fyi incase you missed it as i didn't see in mentioned in your post. They recommend running a small bead of caulk around the exposed edge of the eternabond as it remains sticky and will accumulate debris.

I won't own another moon roof for that reason besides I seldom use it anyways. I usually have to blow the drains out about once a yr. and I always know when they they need it because it drips into your lap. Those drains are hard to get to and being so small they plug up easily, usually the driver side front drain in my case.

JD720GA; I saw that, and even purchased the $9 tube of caulk. But my caulking skills suck, so I did not use it as it ended up pretty neat and clean and I did not want to mess it up with some erratic beads of caulk. lol gobble

Moresmoke, I do not intend to remove this ever, so what you say is "good news". thanks for the recommendation. gobble
