New old tractor

Just bought this Allis D15 from the original owner. In addition to duals, the original row crop cultivator and rear wheel weights were also included. I?ve been using a rear mount cultivator but never really liked it much. The farm it was on is about 4 miles from where I live. The tractor and Cultivators were delivered to the farm in February 1968. Original owners manual was also included.

Wow you can leave her just as is. Only thing I would do is blast and paint the wheels. That would be just enough to put some sparkle in her eyes.

That's a nice find. Riding on the fender of a D15 with my Uncle Ralph was what got me started on this #@%! tractor thing. unc

Surely the duals pictured are not the ones for the D-15. One looks bigger then the other and they both look to big for that tractor.

They actually are the same size and they are for the tractor. He said they were doing something where they needed more flotation so that's why the duals.

The one thing I liked about the AC "D" series tractor cultivators was they are easy to get on and off. You need to make sure and get all the linkage, wedges, and etc. to hook them up.

OK now you have me picking my brain. I drove by that tractor sometime in the last week. Oh well, good find, I hope it serves you well.

Tires can vary quit a bit from brand to brand even the same size I have two 15.5.38 for duals and one is quite a bit larger than the other one like the ones In the picture . It must be the angle of the picture because those tires look like they should fit a 120 hp tractor

I like that JD blade hiding back there. What model is it ? If not yours try and snatch it up too !

The D17 can take a lot of abuse and keep running with baling wire and shoe string repairs. My FIL had 3 of them to prove that fact. The biggest issue I've run across with them is when its time for a brake job the amount of work required just to replace the bands is about 50X that of other makes. Why they couldn't design it so what is a typical wear and maintenance item doesn't require hoists, cutting torches and jacks along with 10-20 hours of labor is beyond me.

The D15 is a great little tractor. Dad had two different ones when I was younger. A great tractor for a beginer to learn on. I spent many hours following Dad with a 2 bottom plow on the 15. I picked one up myself two years ago but it needs a few small repairs and I have not took the time to do them yet. Tom

So is that your blade ? Looks like the # 115 we have for the 4020. Very good blade and hard to find them for sale. Ours does not have the hyd. option.

To all who may read this. Those duals that are stored leaning up against anything are a tremendous danger if there is a chance of any children around. Many years ago there was a friend that had some neighbors kids who thought that it would be great fun to play on and climb on the big tires. The band nearly cut one of the little guys in two when it fell over on him. Be careful when you see this.
