750-16 verses 9.5L-15

I want to put 9.5L 15 tires on the front of my tractor. I have a buddy the has lots & lots of used 15" rims. How wide of 15" rims do I need to properly mount them.

Ok Thanks guys. I already have the offset measured I just wasn't sure how wide they needed to be. Thanks again.

Tire manufacturers normally recommend rim widths as part of their tire specifications.

I have gone a couple of inches both ways on the tire rating. My findings: If the wheel is wider than the tire you get better lateral stability over even with the wheel width. If you go narrower you get more side to side sway.....like the first time you put radials on a machine being used to a bias ply.

Narrower than are much easier to mount and wider than obviously much harder. Your loss of width really makes a difference in FEL operations....BTDT

Obviously tire sidewall rigidity impacts the above as does ratio of wheel diameter to tire OD....closer the numbers the less going to either extreme matters. Changing number of plies doesn't necessarily give you softer sidewalls....case in point, 6 ply R4s vs 4 ply turfs on a 12x16.5 24 hp tractor rear. Expected some relief and got none.
